Jeb Bush Mulling Presidential Run as Eager Establishment Awaits

Derp!

Let the Jeb Bush parlor games begin in earnest.

As favorites on the establishment’s side of the bracket for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination like New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie have become embroiled in scandals, the former Florida governor and favorite of the donor class and the Chamber of Commerce has been indicating that he is seriously considering jumping into the race. Though there are also reports that Bush may ultimately pass on 2016, because of Christie’s recent scandals Bush would be the establishment’s favorite, as Breitbart News reported.

In 2016, nearly a decade will have passed since Bush held elected office. And though he will have the advantage of not having a record to be nitpicked during that period, he could be rusty on the stump–like Bill Clinton was during his wife’s presidential run in 2008–in an election cycle in which the media is more fragmented and the velocity of the news cycle is greater than ever before.

As The Hill noted, Bush even fumbled the “rollout of his 2013 book, Immigration Wars, which left people guessing whether he supported a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants.” Nonetheless, he is giving considerable thought to taking the plunge.

Florida lobbyist Slater Bayliss told the outlet, “I’ve never seen him so seriously considering a run for higher office.” He added, “He’s legitimately going through a very methodical, thoughtful process to come to a decision.”

  1. Allow me to be the contrarian:
    PLEASE RUN, JEB.

America NEEDS one final act, one ultimate reason,
to START A NEW “Tea/Freedom” Party and let the GOP DIE.

  2. Wasn’t bad as Governor compared to the democrats before and to Flipflop tan Greek who ran as a republican ran as a democrat and seems to change political party based upon whatever he thinks will serve him best. Don’t want JEB as our nominee. Also don’t want Flipflop Charley as Governor, but his crooked boss at the ambulance chaser law firm is doing all he can to buy it for the orange Greek.

  3. Cruz/West 2016

Ted should announce immediately after the next Congress is sworn in. I read he could even announce people he intended on placing in his administration then too. He should work with-hopefully- the new Republican majorities in both Houses to make Obama’s remaining 2 years as inconsequential and most important, as least harmful as possible.

It would serve to take any wind out of Jeb or Santorum run. Rove, the establishment RINOs and REgressives all want the same thing-a score of conservatives running with Jeb or Christie-it’ll go down the same way the last primaries have gone down and we’ll have another RINO as our front runner.

    Fuck that.

Be bold Ted-you’ll have tens of MILLIONS on board right away with you.

  4. Want to repeal Obamacare,
    or fight amnesty?
What’s all these crazy questions they askin’ me?
This is the craziest party there could ever be,
Don’t turn on the lights, ’cause I don’t want to see

Mama told me not to run,
Mama told me not to run,
That ain’t the way to have fun, no…

  5. Florida needed what JEB had when he had it. He’s been sucked into the middle now, though. There’s not an ounce of conservative left in him.

    CRUZ ’16

  6. Probably none of us here will vote for the idiot, but he’ll still win just because the alternative is so bad and he’s been picked in advance as the empty suit for the show that unfolds. Any doubts just watch what they do to Ted Cruz and Rand Paul.

  7. W was an American patriot and an honest man; he did better than I expected, but most of his administration was “inherited” from his father.
Jeb is a Progressive like his father, trying to hide behind a Conservative façade. Not to be trusted.
Ted Cruz is a great Senator. I supported him and voted for him. BUT- he is even less Constitutionally eligible than Obama! Not only was Ted’s father not a citizen (at the time of his birth), but he was born in Canada. The Media and even some liberal Repubs want the GOP to run another Constitutionally ineligible candidate for Prez to stop any Constitutional challenge to the Obama Administration. We need to restore Constitutional Govt, not tear it down further. Without the Constitution there is no legitimate basis for the Federal Govt, much less the FE(de)RAL Govt we have now.
Isn’t Obama enough reason for us to see the Founders’ intent why they stipulated “Natural Born Citizen”, not “citizen”, for President and Commander-in-Chief? See Emer Vattel’s “Law of Nations”, that’s where educated men in 1787 got their definition. Born in
in the US to US citizen parents. Yes- BOTH parents. NO Dual Citizenship or divided loyalty, even from birth!

  8. @ Czar- You don’t agree that Citizens Insurance served its purpose at the time (after four hurricanes had pretty much bled the homeowners’ insurance industry dry)?

It’s no longer needed and no longer a monopoly.
