I’m with Oaky. Don’s a hitting coach. He obviously doesn’t know fudge all about working behind the plate.
This shit happens when you’re old. My 78 year old step father snapped his ankle during the winter. Don may have a more serious condition relating to bone density or worse. I remember the Kangaroo court he held when he was an Oriole back in the 60’s -70’s. Great guy to have around.
I especially like how the camera man pans to the left at the last second to potentially save his hero the embarrassment of “coming up short.”
Was this in Colorado? I think the announcers are high.

Feel so bad for Baylor. Great ballplayer. Not ‘Hall of Fame’ great, but a great ballplayer who gave a lot to the game. Orioles should have never traded him for Reggie Jackson. 1979 MVP with the Angels.

@Glock ~ actually it was Frank Robinson that started the Kangaroo Courts. Baylor didn’t come up from the minors to join the O’s until ’70.
A bad omen for the Angels, who not only dropped their home opener 10 – 3, but lost last night 8 – 3 as well.

Poor Don Baylor. I felt terrible for him. Reminds me of what Dave Draveky went through about 25 years back. Bone cancer is some evil shit. It turns a strong man into a twig to be snapped by the next little bump.
I broke my right humerus throwing a softball in high school harder than I ever did any other time in my life. My right arm hung at a right angle where it shouldn’t. It was pretty gross. It didn’t hurt at first but throbbed pain later on. Picking up my arm was traumatic enough.
Oh my goodness, that’s the gayess injury I’ve ever seen – oh my goodness.
Wife #2 was taken by multiple myeloma. It’s a horrible way to die… She broke a humerus taking off her T-shirt one night and when we went to the ER, they tell us, “Guess what? The other one is about to break also.” They put titanium rods into both.
She underwent a bone marrow transplant but it only worked for a few months. Survival rate is around 11-16%. A very nice lady at church has it but her transplant is working so far, and she has been in remission for 8 years.
Baylor has my prayers.
