HOUSE REPUBLICANS’ SECRET IMMIGRATION PLOY

Big Government

House Republicans are quietly working to insert immigration legislation into the text of the Department of Defense authorization bill that would allow so-called DREAMers to obtain permanent legal residency by joining the military, Breitbart News has learned.

The language, which if successful would mark the first effort by House Republicans to provide any form of amnesty since the GOP took control of the House in 2010, has set off a panic among top immigration hawks that the effort could open an immigration Pandora’s box, paving the way for broader legislation.

Sophomore Republican Rep. Jeff Denham of California, a close ally of GOP Whip Kevin McCarthy, is leading the push to add the text of his “ENLIST Act” into the National Defense Authorization Act, which could come to the House floor as early as next month.

The effort, which has not previously been reported, is fairly advanced, and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte – who killed the proposal as an amendment to last year’s NDAA in a dramatic floor struggle – is weighing whether to approve the maneuver, which would circumvent his committee on one of its key matters of jurisdiction.

“We’re working on it,” Goodlatte said.

Meanwhile, top immigration hawks ripped the proposal as ill-conceived and a clear effort to build momentum for a comprehensive immigration bill.

“If we’re going to put out the bait, which is: come into the U.S., break in, so to speak, smuggle yourself into the military, put on the uniform of the United States, take an oath to uphold our Constitution, which may or may not mean anything to them, and now we’re going to reward you with citizenship — I think it’s just a bizarre thing to do, to reward people for breaking our laws. That’s what amnesty is,” said Iowa Republican Rep. Steve King.

  1. They’ll be demanding Spanish language Basic Training and complaining about saluting the American flag about two seconds after they get in.

And don’t forget that Rome trained the German Arminius in the highest levels of Roman military tactics and strategy, which knowledge he took back to Germany and used to rain hell down on the Romans.

  2. “…Denham said in an emailed statement to Breitbart News. “As a veteran, I served with immigrants and there is no better way to show your dedication to the United States and earn legal status than through the ultimate act of patriotism and commitment to our great country…”

Yaah, ask Nidal Hasaan about his ultimate act patriotism.

I might, MIGHT, consider supporting it if the illegal aliens were required to be the first to be deployed into combat before qualifying for amnesty.

I think you’d see the pool of applicants dry up to a trickle.

  3. It’s already a reality and has been for decades. I served with a Guatemalan in Ft. Hood, 1970 who joined the Army to gain citizenship. He WAS NOT a good prospect however because the little bastid was a hard-core Socialist, predisposed by the politics of his origins and then indoctrinated by his US university edgumakashun. Used to argue with him constantly – he just didn’t get “it.”

Unless they take a blood oath to “preserve, protect & defend” the Constitution, forsaking any & all allegiance to others, FUG ‘EM!!! And if they betray (as per Nidal Hasan) immediately take them out back and blow their frickin’ brains out….

  4. Jeff Denham has higher ambitions. I knew his parents, and he told his mother, after winning his House seat, that she would one day get to sleep in the Lincoln bedroom. I was happy for her when he won, but, given his business associations with Central California agriculture, I was worried about something like this. Looks like it didn’t take him long to fit right in with the RINOs. I also seem to recall he was involved in a minor travel scandal – he and his wife partying with other House members on the taxpayer dime. I am more and more convinced that one has to be of a criminal bent to even RUN for political office.

  5. After 4 years of combat duty and 2 years of education (in case they really didn’t get any in pubik skool) and an always clean criminal record, then I think I could accept those people as ready to be citizens.

But then, I think the same way about most Congress Critters.

  6. The Walter-McCarran Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 provides for citizenship to be given to anyone who serves in the US Military. This can be done even if the person in question entered the country without permission of the government, i.e. illegal.

Why do we need a redundant law to provide for this avenue of legalization? Probably some form of pork or other special interest legislation for favored constituents for the congressional rep.

Here is what you need to do. When someone says we need “Comprehensive Immigration Reform.” Get right in their face, put your finger one centimeter from their nose and demand what laws cover immigration in the United States of America! Then ask why and how the current laws are not working for this country. Remind these “advocates” that if the laws are not working then how come we have to comply perfectly with these laws but everyone else does not? And why would they ( The fortune 500, the huge charitable foundations, the catholic church, the national council of churches etc.) can aid in the breaking of laws? If this can be allowed, then obeying all of the other laws in our country is optional.
