LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Sony Pictures Imageworks is moving its headquarters from Culver City to Canada.

The visual-effects unit, which employs about 270 people, said it was moving a bulk of its operations to Vancouver, where it already has a satellite studio, the Los Angeles Times reported.

A small staff will remain in Los Angeles.

The move will cut costs due to Canadian tax breaks, the Times said.

  1. Another win for Kalifornia! Who needs the evil corporations out to make a buck to stay in business… I wonder how many other studios will read this and realize they too can flee this stifling climate? The irony is this place probably had a had a in creating this utopia..

  2. may have to tie a toetag on the castrator

Cedar Rapids, Ia. – Mitt Romney said in Iowa today that he would very much like to see an immigration bill passed into law before this fall’s elections.

“But I think time is running out for that to happen,” Romney, the GOP’s 2012 presidential candidate, told reporters after a campaign rally for Republican U.S. Senate candidate Joni Ernst in Cedar Rapids.

“I do believe it’s important for us, before the presidential contest in 2016, to finally have immigration reform in place,” he said. “I just don’t think it’s healthy for the country to continue to have this issue open and unresolved, particularly with so many families that are waiting for the answers.”

  3. Remember Brokeback Mountain? All of the homosexuals made a pilgrimage to Wyoming to “see where it started.” Morons. It was filmed in CANADA! The owner of the ranch had to kick the homos off his property and tell them to go to Canada. They thought he was lying and was just a homophobe.

    Libtards.

  4. @ J Frank Parnell- A good example of what you describe is “CAT RUN.”

Paz Vega (Spanglish) was at her best and Alphonso McAuley made a new fan as did Janet McTeer and Tony Curran. Great action and special effects.

  5. Atlas Shrugged…. Good businesses leaving and saying, I’m done. Good luck. California will be Detroit in another 10 to 20 years. Half the businesses gone and anarchy taking over.

  6. People who live in CA keep saying “you can leave CA but you’ll come back”. I guess that used to be true. Not anymore. Nice weather don’t pay the bills.
