San Francisco: Homeless People Shower on Bus

Breitbart CA

In May, San Francisco introduced the “Hook-up Truck,” providing intimate space for couples on the go. Now, the city is welcoming the “Lava Mae,” a public shower on a bus, aimed at the city’s large homeless population.

San Francisco has been fighting a losing battle with homelessness for decades. City officials concede that they have made little progress over the years despite massive spending, amounting to $34 per homeless person per day. The founders of Lava Mae, which launched late last week, aim to provide direct relief–and dignity–to the homeless, providing showers installed inside converted municipal buses that will travel around the city.

  1. That’s right, idiots. Cater to them.

You think the hippie influx of the 60’s smelled bad?
Wait until these bums start treating S.F. as Homeless Mecca. Shower bus or no, You WILL notice their presence.

  2. $34/bum/day for showers??

I’d think a salt-water fire hose would be more cost effective, especially when dealing with large numbers of people.

But yeah, bring the homeless and the illegals to SFO. See how long until some common sense emerges.

  3. It’s a petri dish on wheels. I give it two weeks before the buses are totally trashed. The homeless bathrooms in Seattle didn’t work out so well and neither will these buses.

  4. The wife and I got the giggles when they revealed WHERE they got these buses: there was a Federal program to get old diesel buses off the road (by replacing them with non-AGW unicorn-fart-powered new buses).
    But, Shazzam !
Despite the big federal money magic, the old buses are still on the SF streets !

Is it warm in here, or am I just feeling more polar bear ice melitng ?

  5. Why doesn’t soetero donate “the black Mariah”
They could glory- hole the exhaust pipe.
They could have a tri sex urinal on the front bumper and al-moose-limb footsie-wash on the back- or vice-versa. I’m sure they wouldn’t be able to tell wich is wich.

o/t DearFur, where is your artist’s conception of the driving range in there?

  6. This is fantastic news! I’m going to start a program here to buy Grayhound tickets to SF for all our homeless population! It’s the humanitarian thing to do!
