WASHINGTON — Twelve states filed a lawsuit against the Obama administration on Friday seeking to block an Environmental Protection Agency proposal to regulate coal-fired power plants in an effort to stem climate change.
The plaintiffs are led by West Virginia and include states that are home to some of the largest producers of coal and consumers of coal-fired electricity.
Republicans have attacked the E.P.A. proposal as a “war on coal,” saying that it will shut down plants and eliminate jobs in states that depend on mining. But the rule is also opposed by the Democratic governors of West Virginia and Kentucky.
“This lawsuit represents another effort by our office to invalidate the E.P.A.’s proposed rule that will have devastating effects on West Virginia’s jobs and its economy,” the state’s attorney general, Patrick Morrisey, said in a statement.
At what point do we tell the Federal Government to piss of and just start doing what is right?
We also must act NOW to thwart the coming apocalypse brought on by man made unicorn farts. If we simply destroy all free markets today we may be saved.
From Cynic: “At what point do we tell the Federal Government to piss off…”
There you go, you have it in one sack. Send the EPA a nice little letter on State stationary, signed by the Governor.
“Fuck you.”
Filing a lawsuit? Just more money for the lawyers, and makes judges feel important.
Just a bunch of wankin’ lawyers making each other rich at our fukin’ expense!
If the dictator-in-chief can do whatever he wants, why can’t the states do whatever they want? I’m with Lowell.
“Republicans have attacked the E.P.A. proposal as a “war on coal,” saying that it will shut down plants and eliminate jobs in states that depend on mining.”
Way to go, GOP, you go PLAY that small ball
(…sorry, coal states, but you’re not the target voters here)
COal is the immediate vehicle (yes, yes, coal companies will get hurt) BUT…
…how about trying something like THIS,
to catch the attention of ALL voters:
“War on the Modern World”
“War on Technology”
“War on Transportation”
“War on Civilization”
etc etc…it ain’t that hard, if you try…
Someone please correct me if I have this wrong, but I believe Mark Levin’s pending suit against the EPA (wherein the EPA failed to produce required discovery materials) asked the judge to put special requirements on the EPA from here on in because of the contempt of court they displayed and the EPA’s blatant contempt for the taxpayers who pay their bills.
I think Levin asked that any future lawsuits filed against the EPA have outrageous consequences for that agency, like paying the legal fees of those who file suit against them.
I still say those union miners should lynch their union bosses that told them who to vote for…and learn how to eat coal while they’re at it!
States should sue the current admin once a week on average for any reason until we have a stalemate.
Lawsuits are bullshit.
The several States should outlaw the illicit EPA within their borders and arrest, or kill, any FedGov maggots who attempt to enforce the usurpatious EPA edicts.
The Congress DOES NOT have the authority to delegate its powers to an Executive Agency.
PERIOD.
@ Tim: Been saying this for years. Arrest the govt lapdogs and anyone else that comes looking for them. FORCE the issue of States rights and Constitutional Law.
As I have said before, unions need another union to protect them from their own union management.
Why don’t the coal miners call a union vote that says no union money can be given to any political party that does not fully support the coal industry?
Watch as the union management contorts itself into a pretzel explaining why the money needs to go to the democrats even though they want to destroy the coal industry. Even if it doesn’t pass, it sure would be entertaining.
