Extremely Dangerous Ruling Regarding Religion and Free Speech

CBN-

A federal appeals court ruled against a group of Christian evangelists who were forced to leave an Arab-American street festival in Dearborn, Michigan, in 2012.

Festival-goers threw rocks and water bottles at members of the Bible Believers group when they denounced Islam and called Mohammed a false prophet.

In response, Wayne County authorities threatened to ticket the Christian group if they did not leave.

On Wednesday, the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals backed county authorities, ruling 2-1 that police were only trying to keep public order.

“The video from the 2012 festival demonstrates that (evangelists’) speech and conduct intended to incite the crowd to turn violent. … Although robustly guarded by the First Amendment, religious conduct remains subject to regulation for the protection of society,” the three-judge panel wrote in its ruling.

But one dissenting judge said the police should have tried to control the lawbreakers rather than stifle free speech.

Can the learned judges point to one instance where Muslim speech was regulated for the protection of society?

  1. Now there is a concept worth considering, “the police should have tried to control the lawbreakers rather than stifle free speech”. By the time the authorities and politicians realize we are in a war we will have already lost.

  2. So, First Amendment words are a crime and throwing rocks and water bottles is not?

If it had been a Christian street fair and Muslims present spoke out against it while the Christians threw rocks and water bottles at them, the Christians would have been arrested for committing assault.

    Now true in this society:

    1. Blacks can’t be racist.
    2. Muslims can do no wrong.
    3. There is no rule of law.

  3. expect more of this as I believe it was in 2005 when the Supreme court handed down its decision that the job of local police enforcement is to enforce the law & no way is it their job to serve & protect. anybody want to tell me the last time you saw “serve & protect” on a taxpayer provided cop car?

  4. Lawlessness breeds lawlessness.

And when the law-abiding embrace lawlessness, the original perverters of law better watch their asses.

It is only the Judeo-Christian’s belief and adherence to the law that stays their hand.

When that belief and adherence dissolves, then total lawlessness will rule the land.

    Cartoons – OKAY
    Kiddie Porn Cartoons – PUNISHABLE

    But then…what about
    Jesus…CARTOONS
    Gun…CARTOONS
    .
    .
    .
and, and, and…where to draw the line is my concern.

  6. I suspect the cops did what they did because they knew they couldn’t control the muslims but could control the Christians. The problem with this decision is that it knows reinforces the idea among law enforcement that selective enforcement of law in favour of those groups that scare or intimidate you is acceptable behaviour. Very scary stuff and this should be appealed to the supreme court quickly before Obama gets another shot at appointing a biased, left wing progressive to the bench.
