Handbook to ‘prevent radicalization’ of Muslims released in Canada

Canada Free Press

Well, that is the stated purpose of the 38-page publication. While a portion is dedicated for what parents and others in the community should look for to see if a young person is becoming radicalized, the main purpose of the book seems to be to portray Muslims as victims and to tell law enforcement officials not to connect terrorism to the religion of peace in any way.

The handbook was launched with great fanfare at a Winnipeg mosque on Monday. Entitled United Against Terrorism: A Collaborative Effort Towards a Secure, Inclusive and Just Canada.  It was produced by Islamic Social Services, the National Council of Canadian Muslims, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

A small section of the handbook does in fact deal with how to spot those who are becoming radicalized. Signs such as spending too much time online, shunning old friends in favour of new ones and becoming more religious can be signs of radicalization. Who knew?

Much of the remainder of the book deals with how radicalism should never be equated with religion and contains a lecture aimed at infidels in general and law enforcement in particular about not using such language as “Islamic,” “Islamic extremism,” and “jihad.” People who join terrorist groups and commit terrorist acts are really no different than other criminals and their religion should play no part in describing them.

  1. “The authors want this type of terrorism to be referred to as “terrorism based on al Qaeda ideology,”

    It’s another Taqiyah sunrise,

    Burning slow across the sky,

    Another head rolls by…

  2. According to the article after the booklet came out a Mountie actually read it and the force immediately severed it’s relationship to the book project and withdrew it’s support.
I didn’t read it but I’ll bet money there is nowhere in the pamphlet that instructs a young person (or any member of a particular Mosque) to inform the RCMP of new members that seem to be militant or very conservative in their practice of Islam and are trying to engage the young men and boys (slowly at first as it’s bad form to hand out “I Heart ISIS” and dull knives when first introducing yourself) in the Mosque with visions on how great Sharia is. If the members of a Mosque had some courage to rat out these infiltrators you could cripple domestic terrorism overnight.

  3. scr_north, Megyan Kelly had a ex-member of the same mosque that the OK beheader attended. They had him blacked out because he is now working with the police.

So it does happen. Probably not enough.

  4. @Thirdtwin; I probably should use paragraphs.

The point I was trying to make is that a lot of Mosques end up becoming breeding grounds for domestic militants. An aggressive, articulate and personable guy will join a Mosque and befriend the young folks there especially the awkward, lonely ones. From there it’s not long before a few more of these personable guys join and the young start being taught how great their lives will be when Sharia Law is in place and what great men they will become when they begin their jihad against the west that has made their lives so unfulfilled. If others in the Mosque try to intervene then the threats begin. Pretty much like the Mob taking over a union.

@Claudia; Hi Claudia, your point is well taken but I suspect it happens so rarely because of a Mosque’s tendency not to have too many dealings with the west along with threats from the militants (from the inside or outside). I think there are plenty of Mosques where the majority are intimidated by a few into silence.
