  1. From the article: “The victim’s family said he leaves behind two young daughters and that he was a fun-loving person.”

19 years old and already a father times two! I guess he was “fun-loving”! Idiot!!

  2. How do you accidentally shoot yourself in the head? If you put a gun to your head it’s not an accident, it’s just plain stupidity. I guess idiots playing Russian Roulette must not think about the consequences of their stupidity, like killing themselves. But it makes a great final selfie. What a maroon!

  3. Guns don’t kill people, the stupid idiot thinking the gun is a toy killed himself, the gun was just an instrument or plaything of his demise. One less idiot in the gene pool. Didn’t anyone ever tell this knucklehead that guns are not toys? And putting a gun to your head is stupid whether it’s loaded or unloaded

  4. ha ha playin russian roulette with a semi-auto.

I bet he dropped the mag out or checked it and thought it was empty but forgot that pistols are perfectly happy to store one in the chamber indefinitely – and nearly all can fire that round even if there is no mag.

ALL guns are loaded, and it’s best practice to do a “press check” whenever you pick one up.

  5. Thanks for the link. While not an actual citation of law, it is a bullet point list.

Note that it does NOT say anywhere: “Federal law prohibits any person under 21 to possess a handgun unsupervised.”

There is a contradiction between the preface for Ineligible Persons section stating:

“The following classes of people are ineligible to possess, receive, ship, or transport firearms or ammunition:”

And the actual bullet points having very specific language regarding minors:

    – Persons less than 18 years of age for the purchase of a shotgun or rifle.

    – Persons less than 21 years of age for the purchase of a firearm that is other than a shotgun or rifle.

Please note that purchase is not the same as possession.

This listing does not support OpenTheDoors statement.

It may still be true in fact so a citation of actual law stating his claim may be out there and I await seeing it, but this list does not back it up.

I suspect his claim comes from living in a state that has that law on the books. Not Federal though.

Never before has anyone ever uttered that around me. We care about not being busted by the Feds. This aint one of them to worry about in Texas.

I’m sure with a little homework I can quickly come up with a half dozen examples of a child grabbing his/her parents hand gun and thwarting a break in at home. With no legal repercussions over using a hand gun unsupervised. Never has that angle been broached here. Sounds like NY, NJ and Illinois
