NEWTON, Kan. (AP) — Kansas authorities say an Oregon man was urged to head home after he was spotted taking pictures of a wheat field wearing nothing “but a hat and a smile.”

  1. OK – first, right click on the video. You should get a list of options, one of which is “Copy video URL”. Don’t use that, because it will just take you to the small-screen version. Instead, select “Copy embed code”, then paste the result to either the command line or to somewhere else where you can edit it (I usually use a blank e-mail page).

Here’s an example, using a Three Stooges video.

If you just copy the URL, you get this:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=SlHNC73VUZQ

However, when you copy and paste the embed code, you get this:

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlHNC73VUZQ?feature=player_embedded&w=640&h=360%5D

This will not work as is – you must cut or copy the src= portion and use that. In this case, it is:

    https://www.youtube.com/embed/SlHNC73VUZQ?feature=player_embedded

This should take you to the full screen version.

It may seem complicated, but it’s actually not too difficult once you get used to it.

Please note: This will not work with all videos. Some are copyrighted, and you will get a message such as “This video is restricted from playback on certain sites”. In that case you are SOL, but them’s the grits.

    Hope you find this helpful.

    🙂

  2. I just noticed that the embed code I pasted in my comment doesn’t look like it did when I pasted it elsewhere. Might have something to do with the special characters or something, dunno, but I am going to try showing it again, this time substituting “GT” and “LT” for “>” and “<" symbols:

    LTiframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/SlHNC73VUZQ?feature=player_embedded" frameborder="0" allowfullscreenGTLT/iframeGT

Hope it shows up this time.

  3. OK, that’s better, except the final quote sign on the src= parameter still got changed to (ampersand)quot; in my comment. You should be able to deal with it when you see it, though.
