Many high-profile California Republicans have shown a strong inclination to leave the state altogether to pursue their political fortunes in the wake of a major defeat. As the San Francisco Chronicle noted, recent departures have taken their toll on the party’s ability to field prominent candidates across the range of statewide offices, with former Orange County Assemblyman Chuck DeVore relocating to Texas, onetime gubernatorial hopeful Neel Kashkari shifting gears to run the Minneapolis Federal Reserve, and current presidential candidate Carly Fiorina moving her home base to Virginia. read more

Take heart. Up here in the ‘real’ northern California (yes, over 125 to the Oregon border) we are an enclave of conservatives. Just for fun, we hunt, fish and try to form another state, The State of Jefferson. Something like 9 or 10 county boards of supervisors have already voted to secede, so we only need another 10, then have the majority of the states voters agree to let us go.
Let’s see: Pigs flying, winning two lotteries the same weekend and San Fran Cisco submerging into the Pacific Ocean comes to mind first.
