SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – Federal prosecutors recommended Wednesday that a judge sentence a former California state senator convicted of racketeering to 8 years in prison, saying such a sentence would reflect the “breadth and length” of his crimes and act as a deterrent to others.

Leland Yee is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 24 after pleading guilty in July to one count of conspiracy to engage in racketeering. Yee was charged with soliciting and accepting bribes in exchange for providing help from Sacramento and conspiring to import weapons and ammunition into the U.S.  more

  1. Maybe some Fast and Furious charges could act as a deterrent. And since we are on it, how about mishandling classified documents. I think we need to make people think twice about that also.

  2. He was on the gun violence prevention honor roll. And a man was charged with threatening to kill him because of his actions on gun control. D San Francisco/China Town

    I’m not making this up

  3. Only eight years?! Should be more like 20. Or 30. Maybe 40. If the FedGov were to REALLY do their job, and count each gun charge separately, and apply it to existing gun laws and penalties, Yee would never see daylight again, much less the outside of a prison. But he’s an Elitist Enlightened Special One.
