Love is in the armpit at New York’s Smell Dating.

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Love at first whiff is the idea behind Smell Dating, a New York matchmaking service that promises to help single people sniff out their perfect match by breathing in the odors from dirty T-shirts.

Artist Tega Brain, who teaches at New York’s School for Poetic Computation, and Sam Lavigne, an editor and researcher at New York University, created Smell Dating, which they describe as an art project.

  1. This is nothing new.
Dogs have been doing it that way since, well, forever.
I guess as long as those people are housebroken and don’t slide their naked butts on the carpet when they itch, they won’t be much of a problem.

  2. I believe there is something to it. For some people.

All of my intimate relationships (4) said there was something about my natural odor that attracted them. All stole used T-shirts at the beginning and two asked for them later on during the relationship to have something that smelled like me near them. It’s gone by 6 months, they said.

I didn’t understand the odor thing then or now, but I accept it. It happens.

As for me, between them all, their odors seemed very individual and were just something that became every day normal. Neither a plus or a minus.
