  1. My wife is a power lifter but she is 50. That’s very impressive for an older woman. I hope Brad comments on this story. How much can he dead lift?
    My best is 375. I’m 6’6″ 250

  2. I’ll comment Joe. Lifting weights for people past 50 is the fountain of youth. The benefits to bone density alone are remarkable. Flexibility, power, endurance. Congrats to you and your wife. Don’t ever stop.

  3. That hurts just to watch. The mind of a 25 year old, in the body of a 59 year old, that my orthopedic surgeon says has a 75 year old skeleton. I’ll just lift that 12 oz. Lagunitas IPA and call it good! I do it twice every evening. And I sometimes double down on the weekends just to keep in shape. But seriously, I have to go to PT for both of my FUBAR’d shoulders next week. Oh fun.

  4. MJA. Thanks for making me feel impotent. But I used to
eat horse shoes, floss with concertina wire, and piss napalm, just like Brad. And I could bench press….. a lot. Now I need viagra just so I don’t piss on my shoes.

  5. I’ve dated iron all my life, really, since I was a teen. BB is dead on, it’s a Fountain of Youth lifting heavy shit.

My pr for deads is 525 and that was years ago when I took this shit serious. My working weight for that exercise now is 225 and multiple sets of 10. I’m 64 & 175.

If you’re not incorporating weights into a workout program, you’re not running your machine optimally IMO.

  6. Do you know how much a granite monument and 108 cubic feet of dirt weighs? It’s damn heavy on top of you. Oh, wait. I can’t lift that and I’m not getting out. Never mind. 👿

  7. Very impressive! I’m 59 and go to the gym 3x a week. I’ve had a few injuries along the way (back and shoulders) so I do what I can. I squat using the safety squat bar, I do trap bar DL’s and Hammer bench presses. My philosophy is to listen to my body and do what doesn’t hurt. 🙂 I hope to be lifting in some form for many more years.

  8. She can do that because her intervertebral discs have all compressed already.

Since everyone else is reporting in, my personal best was a welded 300# barbell which I could manipulate pretty freely when I graduated (23). Since then what working out I’ve done has been jogging, running and endurance related. If I tried I could probably c&j 150 overhead. I’ll be 70 next year and am competing with no one.
