WaTimes: DENVER — The Colorado Supreme Court dealt a devastating setback Monday to the state’s environmental movement by throwing out local bans on hydraulic fracturing.
The court ruled that the outright ban approved in Longmont and five-year moratorium passed in Fort Collins conflict with state law authorizing and regulating hydraulic fracturing, an extraction process used by the oil and gas industry.
May the Fourth be with you…
“…measures approved by voters in a half-dozen communities, primarily liberal college towns with little or no energy-industry ties…”
Huh. Imagine that.

Ohio SC ruled the same way in 2015.
Salazar put an end to mining this area….

Geez … justice from a court?
A “supreme” court, no less?
Will miracles never cease?
izlamo delenda est …
Whoda thunk a court would have ruled like this after Colorado legalized weed?
Did they realize they were killing the golden goose? In part. They probably did realize they needed the fees and taxes from the oil companies so they could continue living their parasitical political lives.
Coming from one of the most liberal state SCs in the country, it’s fairly surprising.
REgressives are relentless though-they NEVER give up, they’ll come at a ban from another direction.
When I moved to CO in 1970, it was a solid conservative state. District 1 even had a solid conservative Republican Congressman. Pat Schroader won that seat, kept it for I think 12 or 13 terms and now one of the dumbest, I mean really fucking doorknob stupid Congressmen, Diana DeGette is the rep.
She famously once said about magazines, “I will tell you these are ammunition, they’re bullets, so the people who have those know they’re going to shoot them, so if you ban them in the future, the number of these high capacity magazines is going to decrease dramatically over time because the bullets will have been shot and there won’t be any more available.”
Yeah
Most of the time Republicans don’t even bother to run anyone in District 1.
Oh, you mean Pat “Uniformed Services Former Spouse Protection Act Author” Schroeder?
*spit*
United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit here they come.
