Why is Donald Trump’s past fair game and Bill Clinton’s is not?

AT: Now that the presidential primary process is winding down with two presumptive nominees, the real presidential campaign is ramping up. Especially for the Democrat base, including major media organizations such CNN. While CNN handled several Republican debates in a commendable manner, it was still early in the process with Donald Trump and the seventeen dwarves calling each other names. Now with Trump surpassing the 1237 delegate threshold and Clinton on the verge of emerging from the ‘Berning’ fire of her primary battle with enough delegates to secure the Democrat nomination, the battle lines are being drawn, and CNN has moved into campaign mode.

Hillary Clinton is running to be the first woman president, playing the gender card, even going as far as handing out a “Woman Card” at campaign events. Unfortunately for Hillary, the war on women goes beyond a campaign theme that she hopes to use to her advantage. Like a boomerang returning to its thrower, the war on women is headed straight back toward Hillary Clinton, and her husband Bill. In fact, Roger Stone even wrote an entire book on the subject, The Clintons’ War on Women.

Hillary Clinton, as the first female presidential candidate, would like nothing better than to hammer her opponent Donald Trump over his treatment of women.  MORE

  1. I have just made one of those totally unexpected utterly delightful discoveries that make life wonderful.

One of my favorite songs for many years has been Don Henley’s Dirty Laundry mentioned in the AT article. It came out in 1982 – THIRTY-SIX YEARS AGO – on Don’s I Can’t Stand Still album. The lyrics (see below> really capture the artificiality and manipulation of the MSN.

And here’s what really just blew me away. Don Henley performed Dirty Laundry at the 1993 Clinton Inaugural Ball. He dedicates the song to “President and Mrs. Clinton” – and then does the whole thing as-is.

I cannot imagine that he did know have in mind the implications of performing THAT song for THAT pair of pols and THAT event. Bravo, Don!

    (below emphasis mine)

    “Dirty Laundry”

I make my living off the evening news
    Just give me something
    Something I can use
People love it when you lose
    They love dirty laundry

Well, I coulda been an actor
    But I wound up here
I just have to look good
I don’t have to be clear
Come and whisper in my ear
    Give us dirty laundry

    Kick ’em when they’re up
    Kick ’em when they’re down
    Kick ’em when they’re up
    Kick ’em when they’re down

    Kick ’em when they’re up
    Kick ’em when they’re down
    Kick ’em when they’re up
    Kick ’em all around

    We got the bubble headed
    Bleached blonde
    Comes on at five
She can tell you ’bout the plane crash
With a gleam in her eye
    It’s interesting when people die
    Give us dirty laundry

    Can we film the operation
    Is the head dead yet
You know the boys in the newsroom
    Got a running bet
Get the widow on the set
    We need dirty laundry

    [Instrumental Interlude]

You don’t really need to find out
    What’s going on
You don’t really want to know
    Just how far it’s gone
    Just leave well enough alone
    Eat your dirty laundry

    Kick ’em when they’re up
    Kick ’em when they’re down
    Kick ’em when they’re up
    Kick ’em when they’re down

    Kick ’em when they’re up
    Kick ’em when they’re down
    Kick ’em when they’re stiff
    Kick ’em all around

    (Kick ’em when they’re up)
    (Kick ’em when they’re down)
    (Kick ’em when they’re up)
    (Kick ’em when they’re down)

    (Kick ’em when they’re up)
    (Kick ’em when they’re down)
    (Kick ’em when they’re stiff)
    (Kick ’em all around)

    Dirty little secrets
    Dirty little lies
We got our dirty little fingers
    In everybody’s pie
We love to cut you down to size
    We love dirty laundry

    We can do the Innuendo
    We can dance and sing
    When it’s said and done
We haven’t told you a thing
We all know that Crap is King
    Give us dirty laundry

  2. See, this is the problem: Only the media says that Billy’s past is off limits. It’s not. American voters this year aren’t listening to all the punditry, and they hate us for it. They hate that they have to cover Trump 24/7. My gosh! I just saw two major cable ‘news’ outlets full screen an empty Trump podium for over 20 minutes the other day because they knew that if they missed a nanosecond of Trump coverage, viewers would be heading for the internet. We did, anyway. Hahahaha!

  3. Never lose sight of the unfortunate fact that the Hamilton-inspired Constitution has got us to the sorry state of affairs we find ourselves in today. Big, powerful govt was built-in from the get-go.
