Yahoo.ca: CBC News has learned more than 4,000 farm-grown sturgeon have been euthanized after the province stepped in at Breviro Caviar’s Pennfield operation over animal welfare concerns.
Rick Doucet, New Brunswick’s minister of agriculture, aquaculture and fisheries, says the province couldn’t find a solution to sell the fish and after being left alone for a period of time, the health of some fish rendered them beyond saving.
“Basically when the fish are left alone for any period of time, you know, something needs to be done,” said Doucet. MORE
WTF? Now there’s a failure of the writer and/or editor. It would’ve been good if the news item just what those U.S. regs are and why they’re in effect. I smell some bureaucrat’s brother-in-law in the caviar bidniss and he didn’t want the competition.
This kind of thing has a long history.
“We had to burn the village down in order to save it.”
Can we euthanize for the welfare of those in cities? Same thing isn’t it? I am sure the dead sturgeon do not think it was good for them to be euthanized.
Those poor drowning fish. Do you mean to tell me they couldn’t find some government program to save them? Something smells fishy.
Worst tasting fish ever
This is what happens when you ignore the Sturgeon General’s warnings.
At this point, what difference does it make?
