MentalFloss: More people surf the web with Google Chrome than any other browser. A recent report showed that nearly 42 percent of desktop users opt for it—more than Internet Explorer and Microsoft’s new Edge combined. But new tests conducted by Microsoft may have Chrome devotees questioning their allegiances. As The Verge reports, according to Microsoft’s tests and data gathered by the company, Chrome drains battery life faster than several of its less popular competitors.
In an effort to bring more Chrome users over to team Edge, Microsoft created two experiments. For the first, they looked at average browsing behaviors in a controlled lab environment. Under these conditions, Microsoft Edge performed better than all the other browsers that were tested, including Chrome (though Chrome still bested Opera and Firefox). MORE
Gee Wally, if Microsoft is actually lab testing something, why can’t they make little e work? It doesn’t take much to confuse that worthless browser.
I use a few browsers. Some perform better than others depending on the site. I don’t have any issues with Chrome, but the Silk browser on the Fire table seems to work fine as does the Galaxy Tab browser. Both tablets have been as trouble-free as the Mac. Then there’s the PC…
So Chrome is to computers what Cadillac are to cars? My, my, that doesn’t sound very green, does it?
does Edge allow plugins? Is it customizable? What about the ability to improve privacy and security?
Pale Moon is my browser of choice, uses most of the available firefox plugins and isn’t a part of the mozilla crazy PC culture.
Wait. . . What??
Microsoft did the tests, and Microsoft proved the IE and Edge were superior? SURPRISE!! (NOT!!)
Most of what’s on the internet will drain your battery fast. Chrome, however, will drain your device’s battery pretty quick, too.
@bob_anon – same here. Pale Moon and duckduckgo.
