Mattress Girl gets an award

NBP: Emma Sulkowicz, the “Mattress Girl” of Columbia University, has been honored by the National Organization for Women (NOW) with its Woman of Courage Award.

Sulkowicz received the honor at NOW’s 2016 Forward Feminism conference, held June 24-26. It’s actually the second honor Sulkowicz has received from NOW, having previously received its Susan B. Anthony Award in 2014, when she was honored for “transforming the national conversation on sexual assault.”

The Woman of Courage Award is intended for women who, through personal bravery, have advanced the cause of women, or undermined sexist, anti-woman institutions. Past winners include Lily Ledbetter and Rep. Barbara Lee.

Sulkowicz attracted attention nationwide starting in 2014 for her senior art thesis, which involved her carrying around a dorm mattress everywhere she went. Sulkowicz claimed fellow student Paul Nungesser had raped her during her sophomore year, and that Columbia had failed to punish him.  more

  1. She can’t be an artist if she can’t draw. Oh that’s right, she’s a “PERFORMANCE ARTIST”. Upping the bullshit ante even higher, this psycho gets a “Woman of Courage” award. That award must means shit because all she did was drag that mattress around. Where’s the courage come in?

Courage is a description that gets thrown around quite loosely with the left. Caitlyn from his garter belt was hoisted on that BRAVERY mantle for it’s KUWTK driven shenanigans and getting a boob job. Shouldn’t being a Gold Medal Olympiad garner more praise.

  2. Let me gaze into my crystal ball, and foresee your future. . . . . .
Hmmmm. . . . .I see nothing. How unusual. Let me clean my crystal ball and gaze again. . . . .
    Hmmmm. . .. I see nothing for you. . . . no sex. . . no employment. . . no relationships. . . . no children. . . . nothing. . . . have a nice life. Somewhere else, whiney bitch.

  3. Yeah, comment above (too lazy to scroll up): Whenever the idea of a woman carrying a mattress on back came up, it was a joke about prostitutes.

She probably got caught with condoms in her pocket when her mom went to do laundry and she ratted out the guy who “raped” her. I don’t know her back story. I don’t want to know.
