My boss fired a dumbass kid immediately when he was caught driving while watching a movie on a portable DVD player a few years ago. What a moron. There is no excuse for this kind of stupidity as well as texting and driving.

The vehicle is either capable of driving itself, or it is not.
There is no gray area.
If it is capable, it is the driver, and what the passenger is doing is moot.
Maybe someday that will be the case. For now though self driving cars are at best in beta testing. It would behoove the occupant to be attentive and ready to take over at all times until the technology matures…at least in this instance he was himself killed instead of running over an innocent person.
