The Phrase “On The Other Hand” is considered a micro-aggression

Breitbart: In an unfortunate turn of events for a small liberal arts college in Maine, Colby College’s bias incident report logs were published to the Internet, revealing dozens of reports about the campus’s gravest micro-aggressions and safe space violations.

Colby College in Waterville, Maine, vaguely defines harassment as “unwelcome hostile or intimidating remarks, spoken or written.” Like most institutions of higher education, they provide their students with a bias incident report system to prevent harassment on the basis of one’s identity. Due to a technical mistake by Colby’s web administrators, the entirety of the system’s log was published to the college’s website.

The log, which has been archived and can be viewed here, contains various complaints, many of which detail seemingly benign incidents. Perhaps most significantly, the log reveals that a Colby student was reported for engaging in “ableism,” or the discrimination of individuals with physical disabilities or deformities, when he or she uttered the phrase “on the other hand.”  more

  1. (sigh) And the twinkie special snowflakes continue with their self implosion.

Well, just to be a general asshole, you know what phrase I’d be uttering around that campus for the next month. hehehehe

  2. “Asshole?” How insensitive and able-ist! How do you think somebody with an ostomy bag will feel when he hears that word!

And “Fuck you?” It seems likely to me that many of these sensitive snowflakes are involuntary virgins. Saying “fuck” to them is terrible, terrible!

    /s

  3. It all reminds me of the movie “Popeye” starring Robin Williams and Shelly DuVal, where Olive Oyl’s father, Diesel Oyl demanded an apology from every perceived insult, no matter how innocently said.
In the movie, it was funny, but in the real world, its hilarious!

  4. What about a person with severe Tourette Syndrome, who utters vile things due to their disability? Would asking that person to “be quiet” or “please take your medication” be a form of aggression? Also, would the person with Tourette Syndrome be guilty of committing aggression?

Finally, if we’re talking and you exclaim, “I need my safe space, NOW!” to something I said be micro-aggression on their part?

The perfect storm ensues, and they are all expelled.

  5. I have good friend with Tourettes-I am merciless with him. When he tries to tell me to fuck off and is stuttering, we both crack up like 10 year olds.

    I know, fucking juvenile.

  6. What about the horror of these phrases:
“Stand up for yourself.” “The shoe is on the other foot.” “Get a leg up.” “One step at a time.”
“Gotta hand it to him.” “Finger-lickin’ good.”
Also, they’ll have to outlaw applause at all events so those who can’t clap don’t feel left out.
