Feds Spend Over $2M for ‘Developing an Eastern Broccoli Industry’

(CNSNews.com) – Over $2 million in taxpayer funds are going to “Developing an Eastern Broccoli Industry” through a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Grant.

“Eastern consumers’ demand for local broccoli is high, but that demand cannot be met until sufficiently adapted varieties are available and the distribution network is expanded,” the non-technical summary for the project explains.

  1. “I do not like broccoli. And I haven’t liked it since I was a little kid and my mother made me eat it. And I’m President of the United States and I’m not going to eat any more broccoli.”

  2. The demand for just about anything is high if the price is low enough. The “problem” here is that Eastern broccoli eaters aren’t willing to pay prices high enough to provide a profit for growers and/or transporters.

  3. Grant writers are searching for more creative ways to gain free government grants.
    Obviously they aren’t concerned with the flatulence from eating broccoli and the broken ribs from laughing because of the humorous affects on families, the negative impact on the environment and global warming.
    Secretary of State Kerry says Broccoli induced Flatulence is a more dangerous enemy than ISIS.

  4. Geoff, that sounds pretty damn healthy! I just juiced some raw spinach, kale and beets. Tastes like dirt, but it really boosts the nitric oxide. And no side effects.
