CFP: Perhaps, after this latest tragedy, there will be more attention paid to the horror show of black-on-black violence in Chicago.
Over this past weekend, nine people were killed, and 50 others wounded in Chicago, home of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton…where Rahm Emanuel is the mayor.
Chicago police say in one particularly horrific period, two people were killed, seven injured, at four different locations, within 20 minutes of each other.
Among the dead this weekend, Nykea Aldridge, first cousin of NBA star Dwyane Wade, caught in the crossfire. Murders are up 49 percent this year versus last year, and 81 percent over the same time period in 2014.
However, not much has been said, Obama plays more rounds of golf, and Hillary? Well, she’s just like everyone. No one remembers the names and faces of those gunned down, regardless of age, until now. The tragic shooting death of NBA superstar Dwayne Wade’s cousin may be a tipping point. This isn’t not about the gun; it’s about the real cancer that has invaded the black community. It is about what really “oppresses” blacks in America — the decimation of the black family. more here
Chicago really made a difference with safe passage signage. When in reality there should be 100x the number of active shooting area signs. It’s racist to not tell a brother the truth.
wasn’t it Mrs. O’Leary and her cow that burned that city
down once? Time to round’m up again….
I can see by the low comment quantity that nobody cares about Chicago anymore. This isn’t to bash MJA for posting this and it’s a good reminder of the state of our union.
It’s simply to point out that Americans already get what is going on there and similar elsewheres, and if Obama didn’t care enough to fix his own hometown with the power of the presidency, choosing instead to side with the black thugs, if I don’t live there my ability to give a shit has been exhausted.
Go on about your business until there’s only one thug left standing. Then kill him in a hail of gunfire.
Makes no difference to me.
This comment is late, obviously, but Chicago means a lot to me.
It’s horrific what is happening there. I read the on-line Chicago Tribune and Chicago Suntimes several times a week, for variety of reasons.
A gun free city.
Chiraq.
“The city hasn’t seen a deadlier month since October of 1997, when there were 79 homicides. For the whole year, the count was 761, according to department numbers.
Chicago has recorded 487 homicides and more than 2,800 people shot so far this year, compared to 491 homicides and 2,988 people shot all of last year, according to Tribune data.
Chicago has a lower homicide rate than many other U.S. cities that are smaller in population. But this year, the city has recorded more homicides and shooting victims than New York City and Los Angeles combined, even though the two cities are larger than Chicago’s population of roughly 2.6 million.
New York, with more than three times the population of Chicago, has recorded 760 shooting victims and logged 222 homicides, according to NYPD crime statistics through Aug. 21. In Los Angeles, a city of about 4 million, 176 people have been slain and 729 people shot, according to LAPD crime data through Aug. 20.
The gun violence in Chicago has been concentrated on the South and West sides that have lost population over the years as other areas have grown.”
