Breitbart: Caterpillar is firing 300 American employees in Mossville, Illinois, even though it is continuing torecruit and pay foreign “H-1B” guest-workers to do the white-collar jobs sought by American professionals in the United States.
Caterpillar’s combination of white-collars layoffs and H-1B outsourcing matches the much-criticized decision by Carrier, a company in next-door Indiana, to outsource 1,400 blue-collar factory jobs to Mexico.
Outsider GOP candidate Donald Trump has vigorously denounced the outsourcing by Carrier’s air-conditioning business. His opposition has helped him get a nine-point polling advantage in the state. But Trump’s support for major reforms to the H-1B program to reduce the outsourcing of professional jobs is raising his support among upper-income professional-class voters in many other states. Nature and evolution at work! A Caterpiller turns into a Rat!
It’s their company but that sux big time. I’m sure it’ll save them millions and maybe even keep them from moving part or all of their plants out of the country but it still sux. Of course Trump’s plan to tax companies’ products that move out of the country would stop some if that.
I don’t believe the intent of H-1B visas was to displace American workers for cheaper foreign workers. Or maybe the globalists had this in mind from it’s inception. Either way, it sux.
I don’t think that it’s a make or break move on these huge companies’ parts. It just means a better bottom line for shareholders and if you’re a shareholder, you ain’t doing it for charity. It still blows.
Corporate HR people know how to describe job openings in such a way that only an H-1B can meet the “requirements”.
FWIW, My anti-virus program blocked an attack from this website on 9/3, and again just now. Same “signature” both times. Here’s the details:

IOTWR was the only Internet site I had open today when it happened. Fur, you might want to check into this.
Read or at least skim Michelle Malkin’s book about visa abuse.
And do this: pick your favorite companies, maybe the one you work for, and enter its name and H1B or H-1B into Google. Prepare to be shocked. (I was!!!)
Well, my dad won’t be dropping his 2.5 million dollars on Caterpillar equipment. He sent his rep a scathing email telling him so. He’s debating now between Komatsu and Terex.
He’s had nothing but Caterpillar equipment for the last 30 yrs.
EXACTLY how it works. NO Borders, NO Sovereignty, NO special treatment for any body. NO Rules just Fairness for everybody.
The H-1B visa program came into effect decades ago when there was a need for skilled foreign workers as there weren’t enough American workers with needed skill sets around. It was meant to fill holes in an organisations infrastructure not to replace whole departments with cheaper labour. The senior managers soon learned how to game the system and today you have a program that has grown into a political donation machine with reps from both sides of the aisle getting cash for supporting and protecting a program that should have ended or been reformed years ago.
Dear scr-north :
I have to disagree that the purpose of the H1B Visa program was EVER to fill an ACTAUL need created by a LACK of skilled American workers to fill the jobs needed.
The reason companies on-shore foreign workers is the same as why they off-shore factories.
They want to save on costs. Foreign workers are cheaper, period.
The owners of these companies could not care less about American workers .
Their petition to Congress in 1998 for ´qualified´ foreigners elsewhere was nothin g more than a self-serving ruse.
See “The World is Flat” by Thomas Friedman, and “The Reckoning” by David Halberstam for more insight on this subject.
They’re not doing this of their own volition.
They can’t be.
There must be some pressure; political, taxational, and/or financial to make them do such a horrendously treasonous thing.

As a community college math teacher, I see what passes for high-school graduates every semester. Every semester I have to teach them that 1/2 + 1/3 does not equal 2/5.
And it will get a lot worse as Common Core spreads. We need to fix education; Canada is in the top 20 in math; let’s do what they do, and stop re-inventing the wheel (Common Core, new math, etc.)
