Poll: 44% Likely to Turn Off NFL If National Anthem Protests Continue

Breitbart: A Yahoo survey says that 44 percent of Americans report a likelihood of shutting off NFL games should players continue to kneel for the national anthem.

The poll result follows Nielsen ratings showing that many fans already do something else beside watching football this season. Monday Night Football endured its lowest ratings earlier this week since moving to ESPN a decade ago and Sunday games also suffer year-to-year losses, albeit smaller than the double-digit decline witnessed at the Worldwide Leader in Sports. The absence of Tom Brady and Peyton Manning may help explain viewership losses. But another quarterback also not taking a single snap this young regular season undoubtedly suppresses ratings as well.

  1. I bet 49ers decide at the end of season that they have too much $$ tied up in #2 QB Colin K., and cut him loose to “free up salary cap dollars”. Colin K. will cry “Racism” upon his departure. The rest of the league will consider him downhill QB not worth the $$. Except maybe Jerry Jones, who can never have enough back-ups for Tony Romo.

  2. Already turned it off, I sure don’t want to be accused of oppressing these black $Multi-Millionaires who got a free ride through college, free pass when they beat their women or get caught doing drugs.

The real patriots in the NFL need to give these anti-American shitpickles a blanket party.

  3. NFL players are boring and not very well educated, they repeatedly say uh, and you know, and uhh, I need mental stimulation when I watch anything on tee vee. Pretty much all sports are boring as are the players let alone the management. So do yourself a favor and be with your family. Turn off tee vee and enjoy what little time we have here on earth.

  4. “$Multi-Millionaires who got a free ride through college, free pass when they beat their women or get caught doing drugs.”

Yup true bs. I quit watching in the 90s. F ’em. Spoiled dipshits.

  5. JustAl, We have very few players on very few teams who are essentially shooting themselves in the foot. The rest of the league is fine. This is not a league problem, but a 1% problem.

  6. Last time I watched football, Terry Bradshaw was still playing. I got real tired of the grandstanding and showboating real fast. Dancing in the end zone, spiking the ball, trash talking, the ‘it’s all about me’ attitude of the players. It’s no longer a team sport, now, it’s about being the most outrageous, edgy, arrogant player, so they can get more money, and more product endorsements. And every ghetto rat alive thinks he got game and can pay just as well as every thug pro player.

If the coaches and owners would show a little pride in what they do, it might make a difference, but money talks these days and integrity walks.

  7. Make that 45% as I just signed up to extend my 15 years of caring little to nothing about the highly overpaid louts known as the multi-cultural goon squads! Besides give a thousand monkeys a cow skin and in no time they would learn to play football!

  8. Yes Redd. All I need is the final scores. I’m in all sort of pools.
I do like to watch the Giants, Jets, Packers, and Broncos games. But that’s it. And if they start this kneeling shit? I’m out. I’ll watch golf. curling, or soccer, or needlepoint lessons, and just check the final scores.

  9. @ Meercat…Yes it IS a problem…the commissioner backed this crap….If you can’t stand for a 2 minute rendition of the national anthem and show some respect for your flag and country….and for ALL of those that have fallen or have been gravely wounded for YOU to be able to earn a living playing a sport….2 MINUTES!!!???….fuck em all….

  10. Letter to NFL commissioner

    I applaud this Col.

This letter expresses the feelings of most who are proud to be called Americans. I, Jay Pearson of Orangeburg, hope retired U.S. Marine Corps Col. Jeffery Powers’ letter sends a clear message to the commissioner of the NFL. I made a call to Col. Powers. He’s for real in Vista, California, and did write the wonderful letter that follows:

I’ve been a season pass holder at Yankee Stadium, Yale Bowl and Giants Stadium.

I missed the ’90-91 season because I was with a battalion of Marines in Desert Storm. 14 of my wonderful Marines returned home with the American Flag draped across their lifeless bodies. My last conversation with one of them, Sgt. Garrett Mongrella, was about how our Giants were going to the Super Bowl. He never got to see it.

Many friends, Marines, and Special Forces Soldiers who worked with or for me through the years returned home with the American Flag draped over their coffins.

Now I watch multi-millionaire athletes, who never did anything in their lives but play a game, disrespect what brave Americans fought and died for. They are essentially spitting in the faces and on the graves of real men, men who have actually done something for this country beside playing with a ball and believing they’re something special! They’re not! My Marines and Soldiers were!

    You are complicit in this!

You’ll fine players for large and small infractions but you lack the moral courage and respect for our nation and the fallen to put an immediate stop to this. Yes, I know, it’s their 1st Amendment right to behave in such a despicable manner. What would happen if they came out and disrespected you or the refs publicly?

I observed a player getting a personal foul for twerking in the end zone after scoring. I guess that’s much worse than disrespecting the flag and our National Anthem. Hmmmmm, isn’t it his 1st Amendment right to express himself like an idiot in the end zone?

Why is taunting not allowed yet taunting America is OK? You fine players for wearing 9-11 commemorative shoes yet you allow scum on the sidelines to sit, kneel or pump their pathetic fist in the air. They are so deprived with their multi-million dollar contracts for playing a freaking game! You condone it all by your refusal to act. You’re just as bad and disgusting as they are. I hope Americans boycott any sponsor who supports that rabble you call the NFL. I hope they turn off the TV when any team that allowed this disrespect to occur, without consequence, on the sidelines. I applaud those who have not.

Legends and heroes do NOT wear shoulder pads. They wear body armor and carry rifles.

They make minimum wage and spend months and years away from their families. They don’t do it for an hour on Sunday. They do it 24/7 often with lead, not footballs, coming in their direction. They watch their brothers carted off in pieces not on a gurney to get their knee iced. They don’t even have ice! Many don’t have legs or arms.

Some wear blue and risk their lives daily on the streets of America. They wear fire helmets and go upstairs into the fire rather than down to safety. On 9-11, hundreds vanished. They are the heroes.

I hope that your high paid protesting pretty boys and you look in that mirror when you shave tomorrow and see what you really are, legends in your own minds. You need to hit the road and take those worms with you!

    Time to change the channel.

  11. It’s no longer the individual tribes. Oops, I mean teams. Roger Goodell has endorsed their tribal behavior. We need to send the league a message. Man the fuck up you team groupies. STOP WATCHING THE NEGRO FOOTBALL LEAGUE. Four weeks is all it would take to bitch slap these spoiled small minded people.

  12. i would love to have watched the Vikings the last couple games, especially since they kicked Green Bays large yellow ass all over the field Sunday night. But I count somethings more important than others

  13. The fact that my Browns haven’t taken a knee but instead have ended up flat on their backs with hardly a whisper made turning off the NFL much easier…and I find myself in a much better mood come Sunday evening. Besides, I still have the Buckeyes!

  14. Exactly what Mork said. I have other things to do on Sunday. Why bother watching when it looks like the Browns will be 0 and 16. The season has barely started and we’re already on the 3rd string QB.

Ohio State Buckeyes are spectacular again this year so Go Bucks!

The Indians are do well and basketball starts in October. If the NBA pulls stupid stunts then I will switch to watching Curling.

  15. I too am sick of the tattoos, hair down their backs and the attitudes. There isn’t one of them that wouldn’t tow the line if they were just told prior to coming on board with the NFL that you have certain rules of conduct, dress and hygiene which includes No Tats, No long hair, No demonstrations, No Prim-Donnas, No disobeying orders. You can do all that after your relatively short NFL career.
I’ll guarantee you each and every one of them will still gladly sign on that dotted line and adhere to the rules for the opportunity of a lifetime to become a multi-millionair!

  16. I’m done. I’ll support the first team that the owner, gm, or coach walks up to the “protesters” and says: “thanks for coming today, but you can have a seat, we won’t be needing your services today.” I guarantee the protests would be over.

  17. The NFL can piss off
Lazlo has one kidney (learn the rules before betting with Asians at Mahjong) and I signed every wavier I could to get in the military.
I was denied the opportunity to serve
To see the flag disrespected pains me greatly.
I cancelled my plans to go to SF to watch the Cowboys lose

No time spent enjoying the game is worth the disrespect to my country

  18. NFL and Goodell are committing corporate suicide.
Disrespecting and antagonizing their customer base (white conservative men) just to score SJW points with the racist BLM?

    WTF?

Easy to boycott them. There are a zillion other channels, plus Netflix, plus just turning TV off and enjoying real life.

    Trump 2016.

  19. My TV hasn’t tuned in to the NFL once this season. I’ve enjoyed watching and playing fantasy FB in the past, but not that interested anymore. Much prefer to watch college FB until basketball rolls around.

  20. @Thirdtwin
“The coming trend in urban real estate will be converting obsolete, crumbling football stadiums into affordable housing for ex-professional football players.”

Or they become large lion pens where deplorable people are thrown for entertainment.
