Seattle to open 3 new homeless encampments

MNW: The City of Seattle announced Thursday that it will open three new city-approved homeless encampments that will host up to 210 people.

“Today’s announcement recognizes our need to provide safe alternatives to the people living unsheltered on our streets as we work to implement Pathways Home,” said Seattle Director of Human Services Catherine Lester.

Pathways Home is a long-term program that Mayor Ed Murray has been putting together. It is aimed at solving homelessness on a case-by-case basis. But that program is expected to take months to start up. In the meantime, Seattle has started the Bridging the Gap program, which the new sanctioned homeless encampments are part of.

  1. I love the Ballard neighborhood in Seattle. I have a brother in law and sister in law who live there. It’s a beautiful old neighborhood but I couldn’t afford to live there. I love the Ballard locks, it’s one of my favorite places in Seattle to visit when I’m over there. I wonder what the original Norwegian residents of that neighborhood would think of this plan to house the homeless in their once proud neighborhood?

  2. I drove through Seattle yesterday, you wouldn’t believe the tent camps that are set up just 10 feet from the barrier on I-5. 2 questions, why in the world would you live in a tent that is within 30 feet of non stop traffic, and why in the hell would city officials put up with it? Actually I have more questions but those are the first two that come to mind.

  3. That should do wonders for the property values of nearby homes and businesses.
Maybe they should import a couple thousand of 0bama’s Syrian refugees too.
    Why not?

  4. Fun with Logic!

    1. If you’re homeless in Seattle you are eligible for a spot in an encampment.

    2. If you are living in an encampment then you are not homeless.

    3. If you are not homeless, then you are not eligible for your spot in the encampment and so will have to leave.

    4. Go to step 1.

I see the possibility of a teevee reality show here…

  5. A dazzling display of fundamental logic! Bleeding Hearts can’t feel that is a solution to their problem. Step 5 could be continue looping until reason takes hold.
    Great job!!!!!!

  6. Let’s build tract housing for illegals along Oregon and Washington coastline. There is plenty of room and plenty of water, and no racists there. They also have a lot of money and can cover all the costs. they will have to build some new schools hospitals roads water treatment plants but I am sure they won’t mind. Round em up and send them out there.
