FOX5: WASHINGTON – We all know traffic in the D.C. region can be a trying experience with long commutes and delays, especially with precipitation falling in the area. But as the first snowfall arrived in the D.C. region Thursday evening, commuters driving during the evening rush hour in Northern Virginia found using the Express Lanes would be very costly.
A FOX 5 staff member driving on Interstate 495 found a sign showing the toll for the Express Lanes starting from nearby the Tysons Corner area to the I-395/95 exit would cost a whopping $30! Using the lanes to I-66 would be just shy of $10. MORE
We’ve become the United States of Extortion.
I know for a fact there are some gooberment agencies
that put in travel reports and are paid to go to cross
town meetings in those areas as travel expenses. Then
they can pick and chose all of the “services” they
needed to get to the other location.
Screw that. I’ve never payed out of the pocket for a toll road, cept one, the Oklahoma Turnpike. But they let me drive 80 mph.
Saw this headline, but didn’t click on it – just assumed they raised
ANNUAL pass $30. State Motto: “Virginia Is For Luv-ahs”.
My LoFo sis and lib BIL recently relocated from N VA. I used to find enough pocket 💰in their Italian leather sofa to pay my utilities for a year. Love her dearly, but this past election drew me further Right and them further Left resulting in an uncomfortable chill. Hoping this too shall pass.
Sure, this is great for the Privileged Classes but what about The Oppressed? I demand that EBT cards can be used to pay tolls!
And yes – the express lanes sit empty, while the normal lanes are jammed.
Reboot is right. The only people that use them are very rich or government employees who write off the expense.
Dynamic pricing with no cap on the toll.
Plus a third party, besides big government gets rich.
DRAIN THE FUCKING SWAMP!
OMG I don’t miss DC and NYC! 51 years was enough. I’ll gladly pay $1.25 when William Hilton Parkway is too slow to get to the boat.
