BigJournalism: Reporters apologized for spreading a fake New York Times story bashing Rick Perry Thursday after new facts came to light that undermined the main focus of the story.
I'm about to delete this tweet, which spread the rumor about Perry not knowing what energy sec does. I think it's false. https://t.co/m9oxf7a54n

“I’m about to delete this tweet, which spread the rumor about Perry not knowing what energy sec does,” New York Magazine writer Jesse Singal wrote on Twitter, referring to an earlier tweet sharing the story. “I think it’s false.”
The New York Times reported that when Perry accepted the nomination for Secretary of Energy, he “initially misunderstood” the job and had no clue that the energy secretary is in charge of safeguarding the nuclear arsenal.
Gee, the NYT lied. That’s news! (full sarc on)
Hey, NYT…2012 called, and it wants its “Rick Perry Is A Dullard” back. Oh, and they said don’t even think about borrowing “Niggerhead”.
Good to see so many call the NYTs on their habitual dishonesty. Not too long ago folks routinely caught the scab sheet lying, just shrugged their shoulders, and said “It’s the New York Times. Waddya expect?”
Hope the NYT apparatchiks console themselves with their consistency on the whole trip down to bankruptcy.
They should apologize for being ‘reporters’.
Oops, that one must have snuck past the editors.
They did that because they like Rick Perry. He is a snake in the grass (apologies to actual snakes).
