Neil Gorsuch is even more conservative than Antonin Scalia was

WaEx:

President Trump’s first nomination to the Supreme Court, 10th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Neil Gorsuch, is even more conservative than Justice Antonin Scalia was.

If confirmed, he’ll be the second-most conservative member of the Supreme Court, according to one political scientist’s ideology measurement, though still not nearly as conservative as Justice Clarence Thomas. Justice Anthony Kennedy would remain the swing vote on the court, with four justices more liberal and four justices more conservative than he.

That’s according to a methodology for scoring how conservative or liberal judges are, called the “judicial common space” scores, developed by a political scientist at Washington University in St. Louis.

  1. do we even have any judges, anywhere who are “too” conservative?
    conservative according to who?
one mans conservative is another mans liberal.

    I prefer a constitutionalist myself.

our constitution should be written in stone and placed in every courthouse in front of the judges.

  2. There is one cause for concern in Gorsuch’s judicial record, although it is far from being a show-stopper. He joined with the majority in U.S. v. Rodriquez in stating that the simple presence of a concealed weapon is justification for detaining and searching a person. See more at this American Thinker article.

We have a natural, civil, and Constitutional right to bear arms. In the absence of any other cause for suspicion, exercising that right is not, nor should it be, justification for detention and involuntary search.

  3. He is a strict constitutionalist, originalist, keeper of the Founding flame.

Several noted jurists, law profs, etc. where on Dobbs last night, including Napolitano, who were over the moon regarding his originalist bona fides. Lawyer Ted Cruz (remember the guy who #NT’s lauded as the possibly the only strict constitutionalist left in the country?) read out a lengthy portion of Gorsuch’s opinion on one landmark case (can’t remember the case name) to illustrate his originalist devotion. Impressive, to say the least.

Which goes to show just how stupid Trump is, after all, right? I mean it would take a real idiot to carefully choose one of — if not *the* — most originalist judges in the country if he is secretly a center-left Republican!

    Choke on that, #NT! Fools!

  4. I think the tards are stupid to try to hold up this nomination but I’m damn glad they’re doing it. This is the easy one because no Gorsuch WILL be on the Supreme Court whether they like it or not. The next one – or two – Supremes Trump nominates will be the ones that decide the direction our country goes for the next 30 years. If the dems force the nuclear option on this one, it WILL be in play for the next one(s) and there will be no way for the tards to even slow it down.
