The two teenage girls are accused of lighting a “Make America Great Again” sign on fire in Princess Anne, Md.
Princess Anne deputy chief fire marshal Caryn. L McMahon told The Baltimore Sun the reason for charging the two women with a hate crime was because they committed arson “with discrimination or malice toward a particular group, or someone’s belief.”

Burning a sign is a Hate crime? A little over the top.
When known muslims, yelling aloha snackbar, shoot, stab and run over multiple victims, no one is able to decipher motives, intent or charge them with a hate crime.
The charges will be reduced after their 15 minutes of fame.
“Hate Crimes” is legislated bullshit. It is nice to see this bullshit thrown back into the face of the leftists. Unintended consequences.
I was a dim wit democrat teenager back in the 70’s and we lit the Republican attorney generals signs on fire because they burned better than the cheap paper ones the Dem was posting, funny thing is the Republican was the father of one of our friends. Stupid is as stupid does!
I really, really disapprove of these “hate crime” laws but I can’t help but smile at this story!
Back in the “fitties” (when I was a lad), teenagers were expected to do crazy sh*t. That’s the nature of the beast. Cops and courts knew this, so they tended to be heavy on the warnings and threats, but light on the actual punishment, because hey! – they were young once, too. The biggest danger to teenagers then was what was going to happen to them when their parents found out what they had done. Nowadays everyone wants to apply adult standards to individuals whose brains have not fully developed. Lighten up, folks. Save the “hate crime” charges for the people who are truly capable of hating, not some goofy adolescent who is probably doing something because their friends dared them to.

Princess Anne is not you typical Liberal Mayland little town, in fact when you cross over the Bay Bridge onto the Eastern Shore people are much more conservative. The problem with Princess Anne is that the University of Maryland has a branch there called UMES and it is almost 100% black–all subsidised by your tax dollar–its a very interesting dynamic to say the least. Berkeley it AIN”T– there won’t be any anti-fa happening there.
I always believed that hate crime was the politically correct way to describe thought crime.
