Deportation Risk! Illegals in Los Angeles afraid to apply for EBT

LADN: Some Los Angeles County immigrants who are eligible for food assistance programs are staying away because they fear enrollment will hurt their chances of becoming a permanent U.S. citizen or even lead to deportation, county officials said Wednesday.

The annual CalFresh Awareness campaign was launched this month by Los Angeles County’s Department of Public Social Services. The program helps low-income families and individuals buy fresh food with an Electronic Benefit Transfer or EBT card in stores, farmers markets and participating restaurant chains. U.S. citizens and legal residents are eligible to apply for the CalFresh program.

But many who qualify are staying away. The reason, officials say, is the term “public charge.” A public charge is a non-U.S. citizen who is likely to become dependent on public assistance, according to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. There are many factors that are considered, but if a person is deemed a public charge, he or she may be disqualified from becoming a citizen and ultimately deported.

  1. OH NO! You mean I’m not going to be able to buy these free loaders food?! What kind of country is this? We need to import more people who can’t afford to feed themselves.

  2. who would have guessed following the law would have benefits such as this?

imagine how much less our debt would be if we weren’t supporting half the world with welfare ?

  3. i everyone, you need to study up on immigration law. Go to the Cornell University law site and look up this section:

    https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/8

Then go to USCIS’ website and look up the 1952 Walter McCarran Immigration and Nationality Act

    https://www.uscis.gov/ilink/docView/SLB/HTML/SLB/act.html

Then read up on Title 8 (Immigration and Nationality)

    https://www.uscis.gov/ilink/docView/SLB/HTML/SLB/8cfr.html

This is what you need to study in order to debate a libtard on immigration.

If you want more information, then go to uscis dot gov and look up the section on immigration laws. Pay attention to title 8 and The Walter-McCarran immigration act of 1952. You need to know that “admissibility” is the key concept to immigration. It is the determination that an “intending immigrant” can be welcomed into our society and obey our laws.

Sorry to be a skip in the record but the public needs to have this information.

  4. That’s the way the system’s always been. All immigrants are supposed to be able to get and hold jobs and not be a burden to the state. If they can’t, they’re supposed to be deported. It’s a tough world. Get over it. We shouldn’t be the worlds welfare roll.

    WINNING!!!!! This NEVER gets boring!!

Either does GLOATING!!! All Ice has to do is sit outside the welfare office and start handcuffing. Then kick the football over the border.

    Gloat!

  6. Two things.
EBT should have its own line at the grocery store
And if I could work my will,
Every time some freeloader buys lunch or dinner at a damn restaurant there should be a bell that goes off so the rest of us buying that lunch can say: “You’re welcome!”

  7. Oh don’t feel sorry for the poor afraid ILLEGAL immigrants. In the 1970’s I worked in a rural area school near Chino, Ca. One day a woman came inasking if I knew of any illegal immigrants in the area. No, only is and cows out here. Why? Well, we have a Medical program they are eligible to receive free medical care rom, but they are afraid to sign up, so we are scouring the state to ensure they can sign up without INS knowledge. “Isn’t that SPECIAL?” I’m certain COMMIE CA is sending its freeloader searchers out as we sleep.

How long before they get their welcome wagon at the border in CA, packed in a BRAND NEW YARIS? (Don’t laugh, remember Sacramento’s plan for section 8 residents).

Where was their ‘fear’ at breaking American laws, by sneaking into the US to freeload?
