“President Trump’s proposed budget would likely result in billions of dollars of cuts to vital health and human services programs in California, state Democratic lawmakers and advocates for the poor said Tuesday,” reported the Los Angeles Times,
“It’s unconscionable and un-American,” blasted Gov. Jerry Brown, who himself slashed state social spending to balance the budget.
In announcing the May Revision to his budget proposal for fiscal year 2017-18, Brown warned, “We have ongoing pressures from Washington and an economic recovery that won’t last forever.”
Actually, to use a line from another California governor, Ronald Reagan: You ain’t seen nothin’ yet. The cuts in California programs soon will be much larger than those in Trump’s proposal, and they will strike whether or not he’s president, or the White House occupant is Elizabeth Warren or the ghost of Lyndon Baines Johnson. Nor will it matter if Nancy Pelosi again becomes House speaker and is joined by Chuck Schumer as Senate majority leader.

Doesn’t Congress have to approve it?
Congress, like the majority of State Legislatures created the financial disaster we face locally and nationally.
Their unprecedented spending, raiding of “trust” funds and raising taxes were to fund “pork” projects (member initiatives) to show their local electors they should be reelected. Little was done to eliminate waste and corruption.
Congressmen and state legislators continue to be elected and live lavish lifestyles while bringing home the bacon even though the pig has long since died.
Why is Brown so irked there is plenty of extra state tax dollars floating around Mexifornia as witness the 400 billion dollars a year to fund free health care for Mexico and other sundry illegal aliens!
Un-American says Moonbeam? If the services in California were only available to those who are actually Americans, there would be no problem.

Trump is brilliant. He’s trying to get governors and welfare departments to cleanup the rampant FRAUD in our welfare system. Quit your crying Ms Moonbeam and cleanup the fraud and you’ll have plenty of money for the honest needy.
Why is the FedGov shovelling money to CA (or any other state, for that matter), in the first place?
Let California be California. Don’t send your money through the grasping claws of the FedGov and spend it however you wish.

Wait – I thought that just weeks ago, California progressives were claiming that forming their own nation would be easy because they didn’t need federal money. And California loonies are trying to institute a 400 billion dollar “free” health care program, so California must have plenty of money.
California isn’t upset about budget cuts. Budget to liberals is like oil and water. Liberals are happy to live without a budget, so “cuts” and “increases” do not matter. Budgets are racist.
What they are upset about is restricting the SPENDING of other people’s money. That’s it.
The only two things JB knows for sure, Spend and Tax, in whatever order you prefer.

If healthcare in California is free then they should have plenty of state money there to fund everything else!
If you have enough money to create a several hundred million dollar fund for the legal expenses of your illegal aliens then I don’t think have a problem.
