Dems Push Back Against California Gov Jerry Brown’s Newest Climate Crusade

Daily Caller: California Democrats warn Gov. Jerry Brown not to push for a cap and trade program so soon after vulnerable state legislators passed a highly contentious gas tax increase April.

Brown’s full-throated push to shoehorn a cap and trade program requiring companies to purchase permits before releasing greenhouse gasses is causing Democrats in the state to recoil. They worry that the governor’s efforts could thrust already vulnerable lawmakers out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Kip Lipper, an environmental advisor for Senate leadership wrote in an email Thursday that there were “no plans to take up a cap and trade reauthorization bill anytime soon.”

  1. So as usual, Democrats are only revolting because it might hurt their reelection campaigns. Once the shock and awe of the gas tax increase wears off (say after Nov 14), then it will be safe to go ahead and cram another massive tax increase down the throats of tax-paying Californians and another job killer as even more companies pack up and leave.

Can’t wait to see Moonbeam go grovelling to Trump asking for money to bail out Cal.

  2. The people of California keep voting for these policies by continuing to elect idiots they know will push these progressive ideas. Sadly, those Californians who vote for Republicans (not much better sometimes) have no voice because of all the loons in Hollywood and those getting free benefits. The gov and his ilk will continue to push these loony ideas and taxes until the only people left in the state are those who can’t afford to pay any taxes.

And worse, those who leave will go to other states and then vote for the same type of people who got California in the mess. There is no learning curve for liberals as they never connect what happens in their state to who they vote for.

  3. I have run a business for almost 30 years in this wacky crazy state. I have taken hit after hit and regulation after regulation and tax after tax. The Gas tax was an absurd replacement for squandered money and union payoffs. This Cap and Trade will further erode any business that is still thriving BUT the one that will SHUTTER this cesspool of liberalism is the pending $400 BILLION Universal Heathcare bill. IF they do pass that one, I can handle a lot of things to enjoy what the State still has to offer but I will leave in 2 seconds if these clowns force VA medicine on me and force me and my family to wait in 14 week lines behind illegal aliens just to see a Doctor who now doesn’t care because he is prescribed what his salary can be capped at. YUP, that would be the final straw and like turn this state into a failed 3rd world “mini-country” or pimply on the ass of this great Republic.

  4. The socialist sheep are crying because their sheep herder wants to further the cause of socialism.

Come on sheep, it’s shearing time again, share the wealth with islamic refugees, illegal immigrants, EBT scammers, losers, abusers and drug users.

It’s for the collective good of your comrades.

    > There is no learning curve for liberals as they never connect what happens in their state to who they vote for.

That’s too harsh. Locusts do what works, for them. Because it works, for them.

  6. I live in California and I can’t tell you how and tired I am of listening to people who I know vote Democrat piss and moan about taxes, crime, illegal aliens, Moonbeam’s train to nowhere, etc. When I point out that they vote for all the stuff they complain about when they vote democrat, they go silent, get angry, and mutter something about Republicans being worse. Or evil. Or fascist. Or whatever nonsensical label is new and hot to describe Republicans.

  7. California maybe the first state ever taken over by FEMA because our elected officials created their own financial collapse and ensuing disaster. I’m sure I’m not the only Californian that can feel we creep closer to a tipping point daily. Our leaders are insane and drunk with power.
