Georgia 6th: Ossoff on the grill

Despite Obamacare’s Struggles in Georgia, Jon Ossoff Would Have Voted for It

Premiums are up in Georgia 106 percent since 2013, and options are dwindling for many on Obamacare’s exchange. Jon Ossoff, running in Tuesday’s special, still supports Obamacare.

Georgia’s special election for ex-Rep. Tom Price’s (R-GA) Sixth Congressional District seat is on Tuesday, and one issue that has flown under the radar is Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff’s support for Obamacare.

Though Ossoff says he would have voted for Obamacare had he been in the House at the time, premiums have gone up under the law as insurance options have dwindled for many exchange customers in Georgia.

“I THINK I WOULD HAVE SUPPORTED IT”

Asked by CNN in April if he would have supported Obamacare, Ossoff said: “I think I would have supported it.”

MSNBC’s Nicole Wallace Grills Jon Ossoff About His Celebrity Support.

Jon Ossoff struggled to defend the support he has received from celebrities.

MSNBC’s Nicole Wallace pressed Democratic congressional candidate Jon Ossoff during an interview on Monday over the considerable support his campaign has received from celebrities.

Wallace asked Ossoff if the celebrities that have endorsed Ossoff understand the daily struggles of people in Georgia’s Sixth Congressional District.

“Do you think Hillary Clinton’s failure with some of the biggest and brightest celebrities by her side, and Jay-Z and Beyonce, do you think it’s smart to have all these celebrities on your side?”

“I don’t honestly think voters care,” Ossoff told Wallace.

Wallace interjected, asking Ossoff why he would have them campaign for him if their support doesn’t matter.

Bernie Sanders Seems to Downplay Jon Ossoff’s Chances of Winning.

The progressive champion also stressed the importance of policies that Ossoff opposed.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) seemed to downplay the possibility that Democrat Jon Ossoff will pull out a win in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District in an appearance on CNN on Sunday.

Sanders said that he wants Ossoff to win, given that he prefers Ossoff’s positions to that of his Republican opponent, Karen Handel.

But then Sanders did not seem too high on the possibility of a win in the district. “I think it would be really great if Democrats could pick up a seat in the House, but what I also believe is that is a particular district in Georgia, a conservative district, been held by Republicans for several decades.”

UPDATE: Democrat Ossoff Still Doesn’t Live in GA-06.

The Democratic candidate, who has been nailed on the issue before, has not moved to the district he’s running in, four days before the election.

MSNBC pressed GA-06 Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff on this residency in an interview on Friday.

“Why wouldn’t you just move so you could represent the district you’d be governing?” MSNBC’s Stephanie Rhule asked Ossoff.

Ossoff only offered his usual talking points on the issue, using his fiancée’s education as an excuse.

“As you know, Stephanie, I grew up in the district and Alicia walks to work at the hospital at 4:00 AM every morning for her medical school shifts,” Ossoff said. “I’m proud to be supporting her career, even if I take a little bit of political heat for it.”

  1. My name is Jon Ossoff and if you like the way Beta Males are running Europe, then elect me to represent them and their values here in Georgia! Good comrades of GA-06 vote for me this Tuesday!

  2. I’m reading this race will set a record for the most expensive Congressional race ever. I’m also reading 90 percent of the money to fund Ossoff’s campaign is coming from out of state. Most of it is coming from California.

  3. He can’t even vote in the election, as he doesn’t live in the district that is voting. He says he lives ‘just over the line’. ‘3 Blocks.’
It takes 2 hours to walk to the district from his apartment, where his tuition dodging (not marrying him, to avoid the financial ‘penalties;) lives.

And he blocked these guys from covering his campaign yesterday.

  4. Bad_Brad, it is insane here. This district needs some serious gerrymandering. Maybe lop off everything inside I-285 and split it between Hank Johnson and John Lewis. And stop building so many damn apartments in this district. That would hold the zombies for a while. Gotta go vote now.
