Trump to nominate former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman as the U.S. Ambassador to Russia.

Breitbart:

The White House announced Tuesday evening President Trump’s intention to nominate former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman as the U.S. Ambassador to Russia.

If confirmed, Huntsman would fill an appointment that is key to the president’s  foreign policy agenda. Trump has said on the campaign trail and as president that he wants to work with Russia on matters such as combating terrorists.

The appointment is also high-profile because Congress and a special counsel are investigating Russia’s interference in the 2016 president elections and whether there was any collusion with Trump’s campaign.

Trump’s every move with Russia has been scrutinized through that lens, with critics accusing him at every turn of going easy on Russia.

It could be more difficult for those critics to attack Huntsman, an establishment foreign policy figure and former President Barack Obama’s ambassador to China.  MORE

  1. Slick move. Put a RINO into the position that the left/NevTrump axis fully expected to be filled by a new collusion investigation target. No way they’ll investigate Huntsman. And now Huntsman owns whatever happens with Russia from here on.

Giving your enemies Russia, figuratively speaking, while they are trying to destroy you with it, speaks volumes about PDT’s confidence in his position and his ultimate vindication. This has definitely furrowed some MSM brows.

  2. hahah! Thirdtwin has it right. Watching Uniparty heads explode should be Pay For View. I wonder if Trump can monetize it.

(This move would have been discussed with the main players in the cabinet, particularly Tillerson.)

  3. Maybe I’m not seeing the strategy here, which is possible.

    But Huntsman?
Why not instead appoint someone who shares your goals, values, friends and enemies.

I hope our President is engaging in some serious 11th degree black belt Kung fu with this move, and my initial gut reaction is unwarranted.

  4. It also sends a signal to Putin that we’re not sending a high value diplomatic asset to Russia. Think of Huntsman as an inside sales star. He’s going to be there (I would guess) as more of an in-country liaison for U.S. business. That is a smart move for a President who is opening sales channels in Russia, China and others.

  5. Political expediency shouldn’t outweigh the importance of building a better relationship with the one nation on earth that could actually help us win against islime. This may have been a good move politically for POTUS but it was not a good move for the country in my opinion.

  6. I’m not a fan of putting enemies in charge of sensitive positions.

Huntsman will frag him and undercut and leak at every turn.

Was Jeb! not available? He must be pulling them into a false sense of security by sending this pink skinned, thin lipped, faggoty midget to represent us.

    Then we pounce.

  7. Ambassadors are usually big contributors looking for a title. He must have some attribute we can’t see that qualifies him. The president has done a good job picking people so I’ll wait and see.
