Hollywood producer: Conservatives need to go to the movies or lose the culture war

WaTimes:

If conservatives want any shot at influencing the culture, they need to go to the movies. Not buy DVDs. Pay for movie tickets to right-tilting feature films.

“We need your help. When a movie comes to the theaters, you have to go see it,” said Hollywood director and producer John Sullivan told the crowd at the Western Conservative Summit.

“We get two weeks in the theaters and then it’s gone,” he said. “The executives in Hollywood, we could sell 20 million DVDs and they wouldn’t care. We could have 100 million YouTube [views] and they wouldn’t care. We do $10 million at the box office, and they’re all going to pay attention.”  more here

  1. One or two sane movies are made every five years. We do go to see them and they make big money. The producers are invariably ridiculed by the rest of the Hollywood establishment.

  2. We would go to the movies more often if they didn’t star anti-American actors. Last movie I saw was Hacksaw Ridge. Money well-spent. But most movies today resemble idiotic video games. Not interested.

  3. if I need advice it sure as hell will not be from a “Hollywood producer”. 99% of what’s being produced in lala land is prog pablum and isn’t fit for viewing.

  4. Name ONE conservative leaning movie in the last year or currently playing that’s not packed with anti-American actors.

If they ever make one – I’ll go see it.

  5. Culture war? Alrighty then. Here’s my white flag ya flamin’ faggot. Hollywood is about 98% commies. One of the basic tenets of communism is ‘From each according to his abilities to each according to his needs.’ So maybe those effin ijuts in Hollywood should start letting folks see their movies for free.

  6. Most of the far leftist movies bomb out at the theater so isn’t that really an indication that people don’t want to see their propaganda. Sorry but I am not going to spend my time trying to find movies that don’t offend me and then pay big bucks on my free time to go sit in a room with a bunch of other people to see it for a few hours knowing some big Hollywood libtards are living large.

  7. “We do $10 million at the box office, and they’re all going to pay attention.”

“An American Carol”, “God’s Not Dead 1 and 2”, “Atlas Shrugged I II and III”, “American Sniper”, “Hillary’s America” and “2016: Obama’s America” among others SAY OTHERWISE.

  8. It’s difficult enough to counter cultural stuff with my daughter right now then to go to a movie and be confronted with attitudes, behaviors, ideology, and “in your face” scenes that break each of the ten commandments and have no answer to her when she says “well gee dad, all my friends talk about that stuff anyway.”

And sadly all her friends come from church or Christian school. No thank you I will not pay for Matt Damon’s or Sean Penn’s or Johnny Deep’s lifestyle choices

  9. 💣 We DO go to the box office 💣

PASSION OF THE CHRIST was a $30 million budgeted movie that made $611 million. –not bad.

That was 2004, you’d think these people would have caught on by now.

  10. No way will you find me in a cigar box watching a movie for 2 hours. Last movie I saw was “Saving Private Ryan.” When I was younger I used to go to the beautiful theaters in NYC, Lowes, The Coliseum, etc. All gone.

  11. Make good action movies without fag shit, without anti-white shit, without anti-male shit, without anti-American shit, without the forcibly ‘diverse’ cast, without the 98 lb. rail-thin ‘tough chick’ lead, that isn’t a fucking 2-hour utter-crap soap opera, and you would make money. Lots of money.

If you could get them into theaters (you won’t be).

Every movie I’ve seen ads for recently is unwatchable crap. Every. Single. One.

I’m not buying tickets to see the stuff coming out in a theater, *and* I’m _never_ going to buy the DVDs.

  12. Got you beat Tom. My wife drug me to see the Titanic in 1997, that was the last time I stepped foot in a theater. Unless you count the restoration project of an old iconic FOX THEATERS I worked on.

  13. I will pay to go to see a movie unless it has a known liberal/socialist slant. So I don’t go to the movies that often. If Hollywood will produce movies we want to see we will go. If they produce crap socialist movies nobody wants to see we won’t go. IN business they call that the law of supply and demand.

  14. Conservative movies have been some of the biggest surprise hits. Dinesh D’Souza’s movies have brought in tens of millions. American Sniper. 13 Hours.

There are more but Hollywood doesn’t care. They keep turning out their propaganda.

  15. I have the next mega million dollar technology program for folks who know how to code. Let the use choose the sex and skin color of the characters in videos – whether TV or movie.

Then we can all choose who the smart ones are, who the dumb ones are and who the good ones are.

    Get to work!

  16. As a kid, movies was a place to take a date to waste money because everything else was awkward.

As an adult, it’s a high price to pay for a noisy, sticky chair/floor uncomfortable nap. I have slept through some “real good awesome” movies, so I’ve been told. My wife got tickets to some screener she dragged me to, a small theater. Apparently she was embarrassed from my snoring. I was quite refreshed.

  17. There have been a number of good films over the past several years that we’ve made a point to see. Sometimes we have to travel to distant suburbs, but after a couple of big hits, more Seattle theaters are starting to show them. So, movie attendance makes a difference that is noticed.

We love the Kendrick brothers’ films. Their last one, I think, was 2015, “War Room.” “Courageous” was fantastic. Their distribution was picked up by Sony Pictures.

But, this guy is right. One of the key things D’Souza talks about frequently in his lecture tour to colleges and high schools is that conservatives must become active in taking back the culture of America. Our presence is nearly nonexistent. And by culture message, he’s talking about it aimed at young people, not us old codgers who have the discernment to see through the messages Hollywood pumps out. That’s where the effort needs to be, make it cool to be conservative and uncool to be an idiotic progressive.

  18. I don’t go to the movies because I know that a sizable percentage of my fee will end up funding some asshole democrat candidate somewhere. Fuck that. Fuck Hollywood.
