The only de-radicalization center in France is to set to close as authorities admit it doesn’t work.
According to Westmonster, France’s Interior Ministry admitted that “the experiment has not been conclusive” and as a result, the center would be “closed permanently.”
The center was created to offer education and de-radicalization programs to young extremists, which there should be a large number of considering there are 17,000 people on France’s terror watch list.
However, only nine people attended the center and, according to the Interior Ministry, “none of them completed the program.”
As The Telegraph reports, the center would have cost French taxpayer’s €2.5 million, around $3 million, yearly.
That equates to roughly €280,000, $329,060, per resident.
