Trump dumps YUGE threat on Congress over Obamacare failure

ABW: One of the most damning criticisms of Donald Trump thus far has been his failure to take on more of a leadership role over “Trumpcare.”

While Obama often didn’t seem to want legislators to even read his Obamacare proposal, Trump seemed content to delegate the role of crafting Trumpcare to Republicans in Congress, claiming he was waiting with pen in hand, prodding them to create a bill he could sign, but not actually writing a bill himself.

Thus far, leaving such a huge job to professional politicians — even to the politicians within his own party — has been like herding cats.

Today, however, Trump has announced through his Twitter account a more pro-active tactic to get Congress to repeal and replace Obamacare. And this new route will be decidedly less carrot and a whole lot more stick.

  1. Yep. “Direct consequences.”
Has a special *ring* to it.
And, THAT’S just the opening volley.
Placing Congress under Obamacare (if possible by EO?) would be sweeeet!

  2. Maybe, just maybe McCONnell will display some real leadership or at the very least follow Trump’s lead.

McCONnell has the hammer of committee assignments and the purse strings of the GOP senate campaign committee to “nudge” the republican “defectors” to support repeal.

Does McCONnell have the strength of character or intestinal fortitude to wield the hammer of a senate leader? Thus far there are no signs of McCONnell using his influence or authority to fulfill the promises made to Americans (Repeal).

  3. McCain, the most visible turd floating in the sewer, has been in the Senate for so long, he arrogantly thinks he’s ordained.
The main stream Media, Corruption and a Gutless Senate Leadership keeps him afloat.

  4. Trump seemed content to delegate the role of crafting Trumpcare to Republicans in Congress, claiming he was waiting with pen in hand, prodding them to create a bill he could sign, but not actually writing a bill himself.

I don’t believe that’s Trump’s job to write a bill for healthcare. It is the job of the Congress to do it, that’s what we pay them to do. Don’t threaten Trump just do it! You’re hated by the leaders but loved by your people – us! Go Trump! Stick it to them!

  5. I think we have proof, provided on one hand by the ACA inflicted by the democrats, and the total lack of anything by the rino’s, that fed gov knows phuck all about healthcare.

Maybe they just need to bow out completely and let state governments, much more accountable to their citizens, handle what ever limited role government needs to have in this area.

  6. TO cato

The only way McConnell would “display some real leadership” is by being intimidated into submission, whether by trump shaming him (unlikely to have the desired effect), or his members threatening him with loss of power (the only way *I* see it happening…which I don’t). McConnell is too deeply bought-out by the UniParty to change his stripes substantially (perhaps cosmetically, here and there, to maintain superficial credibility).

  7. Later this year, Congress will put a large, LARGE, sum of money in some appropriations bill ( maybe military?) for a bailout of Obamacare. Trump will be forced, rhetorically, to sign it.
Because neither side of Congress has a rule for the process of eliminating an entitlement, Obamacare is here to stay.
Next up, *free* college so the Repubs can think they’ll get young people to vote for them.

  8. 💢 Nothing angers a person more than making him live by his own rules. 💢

Cancel their recess, put them all on Obamacare until they come up with a solution.

  9. Anyone who thinks NcConnell wanted the bill to pass needs to put down their crack pipe.

McCain was brought. Back for the purposes of defeating it and giving cover to the other 30 republicans who wanted to kill it. The donor.class has spokenfellow bumpkins. The Big Club is laughing at us.

  10. Give them Obamacare and when it fails get the Government out of our Health Care!
We have every right to buy Health Insurance, or not! We want a free market across the US.

This will not only benefit all Americans, it will cut off the lobbyists who bribe Congress and the Senate with their kick backs which is why Health Care is so expensive.

  11. The shoe is on the other foot, now.

Let’s see the libtard repubs and dems scramble to create a bill better than anything proposed before and then watch Trump VETO or REFUSE to sign it.

Then we’ll really see heads explode.

Of course, I know this is all a fantasy on my part, and will never happen.

  12. During the August Recess (when they’re on the playground like the little kids they are) Trump should put forth his own legislation for repealing/replacing Obamacare. Let the Congress Critters explain their way thru that.
