Baltimore Removes Four Confederate Statues Under Cover of Night

Breitbart: In a stealth purging of history, the city of Baltimore removed four Confederate statues from city property under cover of night early Tuesday morning.

City crews began the destruction of the monuments just before midnight and finished by 5:30 a.m., the Hill reported.

The city council quietly approved the removal late on Monday in a unanimous vote.

“It’s done,” Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh told the Baltimore Sun. “They needed to come down. My concern is for the safety and security of our people. We moved as quickly as we could.”

“I did not want to endanger people in my own city,” the African American mayor said. “I had begun discussions with contractors and so forth about how long it would take to remove them. I am a responsible person, so we moved as quickly as we could. ”

The statues removed included a memorial to Supreme Court Justice Roger B. Taney as well as Confederate Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson.

Also eliminated in the middle of the night were monuments to Confederate soldiers and sailors and the Confederate Women’s monument.  more here

  1. These MoFo’s are freaking psycho. From JWF

“A group of protesters who want the body of an alleged Ku Klux Klan leader removed from their city have broken the soil over the grave.

The campaigners claim it has taken officials in Memphis, Tennessee, too long to exhume Nathan Bedford Forrest – who was a lieutenant general in the Confederate States Army.”

  2. Down the memory hole.

Next, the left will want to exhume the bodies of confederates, put them on trial, find them guilty and then pronounce their punishment and then carry out that punishment. Presumably death by electic chair or something dramatic so they can feel like they are really doing something of importance.

I’m thinking of that quote by Churchill about how Islam is the more retrograde force in the world but Progtardsim is trying hard to take that particular crown for their very own.

  3. And I’ll bet ya that 3 out of 4 of the whining, complaining maggots can’t tell you between what years the Civil War was fought – or what it was about – or who won.

Or how many Confederates owned slaves.
Or that slavery was still legal in the North.

    Stupidity or ignorance? Or both?

  4. Baltimore is a cesspool of affimative action, political corruption, drug crime and self induced poverty among a number of its citizens. This kind of censorship and erasure of history will continue as long as federal welfare and grant money keeps rolling in, the courts system continues to show preference to predators, politicians continue to accept bribes and trade favours and the media continue to attack conservatives and democracy in favour of what they think is fairness and the absolute politically correct rule of diversity.

Hell, lets go all the way and erase the civil war. Then take it one step further and erase all traces of the slave trade and slavery from all the history books and make it illegal to mention either one. If there was no slavery you can make an argument that racism doesn’t exist and that affirmative action isn’t necessary and that the massive welfare system needs to be cut because there is no underlying reason that the left can produce as to why one group uses it and deserves it more per capita then any other.

It’s actions such as this taken by the Mayor and the City Council that makes the situation more and more dangerous.

  5. Appeasing the dindus is a fatal error. They will still hate you, rob you, rape you, and kill you.

And fuck Baltimore and every other minority overloaded shithole on the planet.

  6. This just drags Baltimore deeper into the slime, violence, and dysfunction. The city never will move up in class with these types of thugs running the place. Too bad, some parts of the city are very nice. Never could live in the place though. Does Republican Gov Hogan have anything to say about this?

  7. George Santayana is known to be the originator of the quote: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

What is the next thing from history to be destroyed in order to support a prog-nuts position: “Global warming is due to the earth being flat and the heat energy having no place to go!” Destroy every globe as a hate object trigger

  8. Civilized human beings should be doing whatever it takes to get out of places like Baltimore. One of the big “Civil War II” questions is where and how physical battle lines will be drawn, but one thing you can bet on is which side Baltimore will be on.

  9. Appeasement doesn’t work.
Not then; not now; not ever.
“Give em an inch, and they’ll take a mile” isn’t just some cute quote about distances.
Demanding the destruction of the past is invidious – it is a planned, deliberate, insult to our culture, to America, to Western Civilization, to all the vicissitudes of chance, fortune, and greatness that brought us from the stone age to here. Their ostensible target is “racism” (which they don’t even understand the term) but the true target is Civilization itself. Think of the filthy fukkin ragheads destroying the cities and monuments of the pre-Satanic Prophet’s lands.

These demands are only the beginnings.

  10. Oh woe is me- I long for the days of peace and quiet when all i needed to think about was what flavor of ice cream i wanted from my local dairy queen ice cream shop- oh i said queen, maybe it should be called dairy person place. Beam me up LORD-been here to long…

  11. Tim you are so right about this being comparable to isis tearing down statues. I wish someone would point this out to the rinos mcconnel and ryan and the media and fascist left.
But then the media covered up the crimes of isis, didn’t they.

  12. Time to repatriate the Africans back to their continent of origin where they can shelter in the shade of the Robert Mugabe and Nelson Mandela statues and never receive any unfair treatment from their fellow jungle bunny brethren!

  13. So they removed the statue of Roger B. Taney eh? What’s next W37 down in the inner harbor? In all fairness, the Japanese did offer to buy her a few years back do at least the city council could make a couple of bucks. She was probably safer at Pearl Harbor than she now is in bodymore…………..

  14. So, a Facebook ‘friend’ posted this today w/a note that says, ‘This is how you do it: quickly and decisively.’ Seriously?! Coincidentally, that’s how the Berlin Wall went up: quickly and decisively and overnight.

  15. You know, those statues may be safer out of that cesspool of a city anyway. Move the Generals to Gettysburg or Antietam battlefields. Put Taney’s to the town named after his family – Taneytown, MD.

  16. Confused person on fb:

The majority of Baltimoreans no longer wanted these statues on public display. Democracy rules. The statues (as decrepit and as old as the ideas they symbolize) will go to the David Duke Memorial Museum, where the folks who want to look at these statues can pay for a ticket and do so. And the folks who don’t want to look at these statues will no longer be forced to do so. Democracy and capitalism at work; Nazism defeated yet again.

Me: Ah. A member of the “If I Say It, It Must Be So” club. Those statues were never intended to convey support for the idea of a country bifurcated, or the practice of slavery. But that’s history, and I doubt anyone under the age of 40 or so has any schooling in it. And no one ever forced anyone to look at those statues. That kind of order and control is the purview of totalitarian regimes – one of which is the fascist “AntiFa”.
“In the spirit of reconciliation towards a conquered people, the United States (i.e., the Union) agreed to honor Confederate heroes who also played a significant role in United States history. This was an olive branch towards a conquered people, and it was extended in a myriad of ways.” And since you seem to be confused on the idea of comity that should be found within a citizenry, “Democracy rules” means mob rule. Hope you enjoy it.

  17. It seems as though NO one remembers the truth of the civil war, or what happened, or WHY people HAD to fight on the south side. So many confederates were not even slave owners, not even bigots. It was about their livelihood, their very lives even in plenty of cases, being protected. The virtue signaling ‘North’ pushed the civil war, even though the South wanted to ease out of slavery and made the excellent point that their entire infrastructure was reliant on slave labor so they needed to replace the slaves with free men, etc.

Also, General Stonewall was a good man, in a horrible situation. This is just so sickening to me, I can barely stomach it. :[

  18. Czar of d, steam will be coming from my ears if they go after that confederate soldiers statue in old town Alexandria. Thats in my neck of the woods, maybe yours too, and ive been wondering about it.

  19. Alexandria VA is in the process of renaming Jefferson Davis Highway. That decision has already been made they are just looking for a new name, how about Donald Trump Drive. I am resident, it was not put to a vote. The city for the most part is run by garden variety, do-gooder, SJW intolerant fascists.
