Analysis Finds Affirmative Action May Not Be Helping Black Students

Howie Carr: Black and Hispanic students are more under-represented in colleges than they were decades ago, despite affirmative action in college admissions, a New York Times analysis found Thursday.

The New York Times analyzed admissions enrollment from 100 of the best Ivy League schools, liberal colleges, universities and prominent public state universities in the U.S. dating back to 1980.

The analysis revealed that with affirmative action, black students only made 6 percent of college freshman, despite being 15 percent of college age students. As for Hispanic students, more of them are at the top universities, but the number hasn’t kept pace with the rise in the Hispanic college age population. Hispanics made up 13 percent of college freshmen but made up 22 percent of the college age population.

TheNYT found that black students only made up 9 percent of freshman students, while Hispanic students represented 15 percent of students at Ivy League Schools. White students’ enrollment also went down, while the percent of Asia-American students on the Ivy League campuses increased slightly. When it comes to liberal arts colleges, black and Hispanic students enrollment was on pace with those at Ivy League schools overall.

At other top universities in the country, the amount of white students has also gone down, while the population of black and Hispanic students still are underrepresented.  MORE

  1. I think Whitey should be removed from ALL positions of responsibility: the power grid, law enforcement, fire, EMT, doctors, and lawyers (all Jews, whether or not they consider themselves ‘white,’ should be forbidden from law and medical).

Let’s see what ‘civilization’ looks like then.

  2. My most-lefty friend thinks himself a plant guru. He’s not, but that’s beside the point.

So, more than once, I used his plant familiarity to relate this self-defeating principle of what I call too-much-help-is-a-bad-thing.

When you plant a sapling or tree with a root-ball, you generally outfit it with guy wires to keep it upright – but only until it is rooted. There comes a point they need to be removed – not upgraded.

Why is that? I ask him. Have you ever seen a tree that people insist on keeping the wires too long?

The tree becomes weak when you do that. It turns out that the swaying of the tree makes small breaks in the cellular structure and when the tree repairs itself – the tree is stronger for it. This is a part of healthy tree life.

To deny it the small damages as it grows taller makes the trunks weak – they’ve never needed to recover from strong winds.

You then have weak, easily damaged trees when you baby them too much.

Humans are no different on this principle. A principle of life.

  3. Prison, where there is an over representation of minorities. Paid free ride by taxpayers, holding down all races. Subtract that prison over representation from the contributed GDP per ethnicity. Then you’ll see exactly who pays for who. Ohhh no, that’s racist. Well, why does any one race need to pay for the pitfalls of another? Why can’t they pick their own pants up? When was the last time the mexicans had a net positive payment for whites in prison?

  4. Durka durka? Idiot savants they be, stoopid you cannot fix, you have to destroy it.

Put a retard in a course, lower the standards, and what do you get? A retard that is now “qualified”, can’t do the job, and is useless, and then they act surprised?

Brad, yer a machinist, how many friends you have that are missing fingers or eyes because they were stupid in the machine shop?

Same shit as on submarines, if you were dangerous to the crew, we kicked your ass off the boat and out of the Navy.
