WT: Forensics tests have resolved a debate surrounding the final resting place of H.H. Holmes, a Chicago doctor and mass murderer widely regarded as America’s first serial killer.
Holmes was sentenced to death in 1896 after admitting to dozens of murders and was reportedly executed by hanging in Philadelphia and buried at nearby Holy Cross Cemetery. Rumors about his fate have persisted for years, however, and a judge agreed earlier this year to excavate the grave and exhume its contents.
The first serial killer to be caught.
Look at that pedo mustache.
“Devil in the White City”, by Erik Larson is a pretty good book about this guy. He also wrote a good book about the Galveston hurricane from about 1900.
Holmes, a serial killer, his grave desecrated and his body exhumed 121 years after execution to resolve a questionable debate about his fate.
The truth is the judge allowed the exhumation for a television program.
So if it wasn’t Holmes? What were they going to do? Call the FBI, they wouldn’t find any intent to prosecute him.
Their revelation was, even buried after 121 years if you lived in Chicago, you still stink.
I read that White City book last summer. I imagine today’s criminal psychologist would diagnose him a true psychopath and then fight tooth and nail to keep him alive for further study.
“Devil in the White City” was an excellent book also a fascinating book about the Chicago World’s Fair.
If you like the writing of Erik Larson, the title of the book about the Galveston hurricane is “Isaac’s Storm. It’s also interesting as heck. He is a good writer.
Now, the final challenge: Prove H. H. Holmes is Jack the Ripper.
List: Homosexual Serial Killers

They are so common, the FBI profiler AUTOMATICALLY assumes a serial killer is a gay white male, until evidence proves otherwise.
How did they know to look for a second coffin by drilling through the concrete bottom of the first coffin?
a judge agreed earlier this year to excavate the grave and exhume its contents as
It seems Mr H.H.Holmes is and has been a registered democrat in Chicago since 1877 and did vote for Hillary, by mail in ballot, in the last election. The judge’s ruling on the evidence was that there wasn’t any fraud involved as “Mr Holmes is a resident of Chicago and certainly has the right to cast his vote in that district.”
I enjoyed reading Eric Larsen’s account of this story. Murders and mayhem aside, his account of the building of the Chicago World’s Fair was fascinating.
Another very good title of his is “In The Garden of Beasts” about the U.S. Ambassador to Germany during Hitler’s reign of terror. Lots of details and written in a way that really has you there at the time. Especially interesting if you’ve ever been to the location of the story and know the landmarks.
Isaac’s Storm was a great book. Devil in the White City creeped me out. Not because it was badly written but because of the subject matter.
