BPR: An elderly man pushed a suspected burglar off his roof during a police chase Tuesday in La Puente, Calif.
The alleged burglar met an unlikely match when Wilford Burgess, 83, “got tired” of his tomfoolery. The suspect was jumping from roof to roof, then sat on Burgess’ roof for five hours and refused to budge when police ordered him to come down. While neighbors called crisis negotiators to help out with the situation, Burgess decided to speed up the process, reported Los Angeles Times. MORE

There aren’t many people like 83 year old Wilford Burgess left on this world. I love the spirit, I love the American no nonsense approach to a practical problem and his guts. His generation is golden. Reminds me of a lovely, 80-something wonderful and tough lady I met the other day.

WHILE DRIVING THROUGH PACIFIC PALISADES CA ON SUNSET BLVD, MY DAD WAS CUT OFF BY A LATE MODEL BLACK MERCEDES, AND THEN FLIPPED OFF BY THE DRIVER. MY DAD HAD DONE NOTHING WRONG, WAS ONLY HEADED TO A LEFT TURN LANE TO TURN. THE LIGHT WAS RED, MY DAD PUT HIS CAR IN PARK, AND STEPPED UP TO THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW OF THE MERCEDES AND KNOCKED ON THE TINTED WINDOW. THE DRIVER LOWERED THE WINDOW, AND MY DAD PROCEEDED TO PULL THIS MIDDLE EASTERN MAN HALFWAY OUT OF THE WINDOW AND BEAT THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF THE DUDE!! PEOPLE RAN FRO BOTH SIDES OF SUNSET TO PULL MY DAD AWAY, AND ONE GUY SAID “DAMN, YOU WERE GONNA KILL THAT GUY!!” MY DAD SAID “YOU’RE GODDAMNED RIGHT I WAS!!!”
MY DAD WAS 80 AT THE TIME, TOUGHEST DUDE I EVER MET, BEST MAN OF MY LIFE TOO!! RIP DAD, SEE YA SOON!! BRINGING THE BOXING GLOVES!!

The cops were so limp-wristed in the response. It sounded like he was threatening to jump from a skyscraper and the police were pleading for him not to jump. I was astounded to see he was on a one-level house.
Too bad he survived the fall, take him back to the roof until he can’t.
