Collins’ scene in Adventures in Babysitting was one of the most memorable in the movie.
A few years ago, they released “In Session” which was his ’83 jam session with Stevie Ray Vaughan right before his star really took off and it’s basically them bantering back and forth and playing. https://www.amazon.com/Session-Albert-King/dp/B00000JTB2
When you hear The Master of the Telecaster, you’re hearing the template for SRV.
Just for fun, this video never surfaced until very recently. Charlie Daniels used to have a “Volunteer Jam” in Tennessee every year. The crowd was kind of sparse and milling about and then, out of nowhere, without any billing at all – Stevie Ray Vaughan shows up with Double Trouble. 5 minutes later – the amphitheater is packed to the rafters.
I saw Albert Collins once in 1969 and later in the 70s. He’s three times the guitar player as B.B. King.
Pulls an amazing tone out of that Tele. Humbuckers on it, instead of the usual single coil pickups.
Damn, my lawn didn’t get mowed today. I got hooked on Blues all afternoon. It’s a great way to pass the time that has been freed up by not watching the nfl.
Another good choice, I like those old Blues guys!
Thank You Thank You Thank You.
Not to be a nitpicker or anything, but actually what he was singing was, “If money was trouble“.
Yeah, yeah, I know. Coulda been the drugs.
š
I’ll see you Albert, and throw in a King for free.
