NOQ: A stunning accusation has been made Monday by a taxpayer watchdog organization. Cause of Action Institute maintains that the Obama administration used money received from mortgage settlements with big banks and improperly funneled it to “dozens of Democratic activist groups who were not even victims of the crisis.”
Wow.
It’s not totally unbelievable. In fact, it’s quite plausible given the Obama administration’s penchant for making settlements with corporations that include various “donations” to groups like La Raza, Urban League or the National Community Reinvestment Coalition.
The New York Post broke the story over the weekend.
“During the Obama administration, groups committed to ‘revolutionary social change’ sent proposals and met with high-level HUD and Justice Department officials to try to get their pieces of the settlement pie,” Cause of Action Institute vice president Julie Smith told The Post.
