Breitbart: President Donald Trump still has confidence that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell can do his job, despite a list of political failures in the Senate.
Two separate efforts to replace Obamacare have failed in the Senate under McConnell’s leadership, and he was dealt a heavy blow after his preferred candidate, Sen. Luther Strange, lost big in Alabama in spite of the establishment’s spending millions to beat outsider candidate Roy Moore.
Trump said Republican senators had to decide for themselves if they still want McConnell to lead them.
“I do have confidence in him, yes,” Trump replied to reporters when asked if he still has confidence in McConnell. “But it’s really not up to me; it’s up to the Senate.”
Oh, I certainly trust him.
This is like the parable of the race between The Turtle and The Hair.
That’s Trump being a savvy businessman. Just in case he’s stuck with this loser.

Great line, “I still have confidence in him but it’s up to the Senate”. I think Trump just gave him the Mob kiss on the cheek. Now imagine the Senate decides that McConnell’s gotta go. They then elect an actual conservative (after seeing that Trump hasn’t been destroyed in the first six months like all their liberal advisors told them would happen) then Trump goes to town, tearing down barriers to growth that have chained the US economy for decades. The Dems would be shattered, Football Players would stand at attention again when the anthem is played all the while hoping people have forgotten that little misunderstanding, The DOJ actually investigates the Clinton machine and Bill is standing in a docket facing charges of sexual assault while Hillary is already serving time for treason. The Chinese have disarmed and executed Rocket Man and are demiliterizing North Korea because they don’t want to piss Trump off. And Obama is nowhere to be found.

Although I like the scenario you paint I don’t think it will happen. The uniparty will never elect a conservative in the senate which renders the rest of your scenario moot. Electing a conservative as speaker would endanger the fiefdom they all enjoy. they are going to try to ride out the rest of this term, thwarting DJT’s agenda at every turn. He might even get primaried. if he survives that he will once again have to battle the media and the D’s as well as the Rinos that compose the uniparty in the general election.
I pray his thick skin is not worn thin by the onslaught that will persist until election day.
