Texas: Man busted for stealing $1.2M worth of fajitas

KFI: A Texas man has been charged with felony theft after investigators connected him to a strange heist to steal more than $1.2 million worth of fajitas over the last nine years, according to the Brownsville Herald.

Gilberto Escamilla, a former Cameron County Juvenile Justice Department employee, took off work one day for a medical appointment. That same day, a delivery driver called the kitchen about having 800 pounds of fajitas to drop off.

A woman told the driver that the department didn’t serve fajitas, but the driver told her that he’d been delivering the food for nine years.  more

  1. It occurs to me that my previous comment might have been a bit esoteric for some. Originally, fajitas were made solely from “skirt steak”, a cheaper cut of beef muscle from around the diaphragm. As fajitas became more popular, other cuts of beef and even chicken were substituted. The best and tastiest fajitas are still made from skirt steak, although you may have to buy it from the butcher and prepare it yourself if you can’t find a restaurant that serves it.
