California: White People Overwhelmingly Think College Is A Waste Of Time

Daily Caller:

A new poll out of California shows that just 35 percent of white people view a college education as necessary in today’s society.

The poll, by the Public Policy Institute of California, reveals notable racial gaps on the value of a college degree. Just over half of black survey respondents (51 percent) view a college degree as necessary. A slightly higher percentage of Asian-Americans — 54 percent — say college is necessary.

By contrast, the survey found that Latinos are big believers in higher education. Two-thirds of Latino survey takers (67 percent) say they believe a college education as necessary.

Just over half of the Democrats surveyed (51 percent) say a college degree is vital for a good career.

On the other hand, 67 percent of Republicans and 59 percent of independents are confident that college is not necessary to find professional success.

Overall, half of California’s adults — and just 43 percent of its likely voters — say they think a college degree is necessary for professional success.

The Public Policy Institute of California poll also shows that a majority of Californians — 56 percent — think a college education is not affordable at the state’s several public colleges and universities. Three-fourths of the survey respondents say high costs hamper some qualified students. Almost 80 percent say students have to borrow too much money for college.

  1. Technology has made the physical college campus obsolete. IT will soon provide for an excellent educational experience and will cause the current socialist professors to be tossed out on a trash heap along with the feckless, highly overpaid, and overindulged administrators!

  2. @Horace Greely November 5, 2017 at 9:36 am

Oh, Mr. Greely! Making jokes about title mills being about education. You muist stop hiring Larry David’s writers for your material.

  3. It used to be a great place to meet people your own age, party, learn a thing or two in classes that weren’t infected by liberal opinion, and maybe meet a girl and fall in love and start a life together. For a few grand a year.

Now it seems like a place to be accused of all of history’s wrongs because you happened to be born white, you’re steeped with derision from the blacks and betas and transgender and lesbos and militant feminists, the administration is out to get you if you get caught with booze, and if you happen to get lucky you’re probably looking at a false rape charge.

    For 60 grand a year.

Yep, hurry the meteor that is online school. The old system is toast.

  4. The wife got her MS at GaTech online.
Says she learned more that way then ever before.
1971, I took classes using a computer, sort of. It was like pong as a computer game, sort of.
It makes for a better learning experience, not having to put up with the village idiot.
A lot of times, the idiot, is the professor.
Anymore, unless you’re taking a lab or hands on class, attendance in a classroom is redundant to a learning experience.
Colleges, in their desire to indoctrinate all, have chosen their own fate.
College has become a kindergarten for young ‘adults’.
Some of the most brilliant people I have worked with were autodidactic.

  5. COLLEGE SHOULD BE TWO YEARS

You study your area of profession, and NOT study 2 more years of the same stuff you just studied in High School.

    ◾ Less debt.
    ◾ Less indoctrination.
◾ Get into the job market earlier.

EVERY college graduate should also have:
◾ An extra certificate in their profession (there are tons of them).
◾ Pass Microsoft Office Specialist (the easiest level).
◾ CPR certification (takes 1 day).
◾ Some job experience in their profession.

    WHAT DO WE HAVE NOW?
    Indoctrinated, in debt, experience-less brats.

  6. @ OpenTheDoor, add incapable to the list. Or incapable of anything useful.

It was once an ideal that’s become a woodchipper for normal American values, and that’s the center of its downfall.

Outside of STEM (mostly), students are enticed to go heavily into debt because it’s college. Education is key, they say, without ever qualifying the concept to people who don’t even know that leaving an assumption up to a mark is one one of the best tricks of a grifter. Apparently, it’s now how to learn all the ways to despise yourself, your family, your country and let yourself be intellectually and morally debased in the cause of some warped notion of atonement. Like classic abusers, they will turn around and pass that sickness along to the next unwitting soul, because none of this could be wrong, amirite? A legion of Satan’s minions in the forms of admins, professors, TAs and RAs are there to back it up.

Girls go in at least somewhat sane, comes out with a face full of fishing tackle and knowing the rules and regs behind legitimizing victimhood. Guys go in fairly sane and either hunker down, get the hell out, or wind up needing testosterone patches.

It’s Higher Education! We know things – secret things your parents don’t understand – and we can teach you! How can it turn out badly?
    –Hold my beer.

  7. Collage is a racket much akin to public unions and car loans. All are out to get your money. What we need are trade schools so folks can have a skill set from which to provide a living.
Dirty little secret, the majority of those folks whom operate and maintain power plants don’t have a degree. They gained knowledge and experience in the military.
An employer I know starts folks at $60k (w/out collage) and supervisors upwards of $90k.
And no, I’m not making it up. One of my clients is offering $105k for a QA Manager position but can’t fill it because 99% of those applying lack ASME Code knowledge.

  8. This is obvious. Blacks and Hispanics love college, because a.) they don’t have to pay their way, and b.) they don’t have to worry about competing to gain entrance or obtain a degree. By contrast, whites have to pay the full amount, are sent to the back of the entry line, and face the possibility of failing. Add to that all the bullshit social justice curricula required for a degree, and yes, college isn’t worth the time/money for white people. This is by design, to give minorities the advantage in the workplace.

  9. My kids prefer online to classroom. Plus they get better grades as all they have to do is understand the material and pass the test not turn in a crap load of papers and projects.
