FOX- Country music singer Mel Tillis, whose six-decade career included hits such as “I Ain’t Never” and “Coca Cola Cowboy” and who never let his stutter get in the way of him becoming a legend, died on Sunday, his publicist confirmed. He was 85.
Tillis passed away at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Fla., his publicist Don Murry Grubbs said. The music legend is believed to have died from respiratory failure after he never recovered from intestinal issues he has been battling since 2016. He leaves behind his longtime partner, Kathy DeMonaco, his six children and six grandchildren. more

I remember a comic saying he thought Say Say Say was Mel Tillis singing the national anthem. Here’s The Long Ryders killing it on Mel’s Sweet Mental Revenge. RIP.

That link didn’t play. So I had to do some searching. Thanks for turning me onto a bad ass band.
Pam Tillis is no slouch either.
Hey Brad
The second try works. The Long Ryders are an early 80’s LA Paisley Underground band that are now revered as the founders of the Alt Country movement. I saw them live in San Juan Capistrano back in 87 – great show. They’re libtards but I forgive them. After going their separate ways they are currently recording their first album in 30 years.

I probably will regret this, but I try and not let politics get in the way of good music. Right now, and it changes daily, my favorite band is CSNY. I guess I’m in one of those moods.
Gunslinger Man was really good.
Gunslinger Man is a great track. Killer twin guitar attack live. It’s about Ronald Reagan – the dummies are smug about not voting for him. “A minute and a half short of a ride in a hearse.” Bastards lol….Capturing The Flag is a very patriotic song. If I had to boycott all libtard musicians I’d have to throw out 90% of my massive music collection. Conservatives are the tolerant ones.
Brad, really? I’m shocked…..shocked I tell ya. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
Springsteen’s “The River” could be the Deplorable theme song whether he meant it to be or not. Probably not. LOL
It is frustrating to try and support conservative entertainers over libs. You do end up with a limited inventory to draw on. I’ve found I appreciate the quiet more than I used to.

LOL, it’s getting to the point I avoid learning the politics of my favorite bands. I’ve got the Gin Blossoms playing right now. Please, DON’T TELL ME. LOL
Joe, what can you say? It’s just awesome.

Brad, no doubt it’s good music. And when I can just listen to it, and enjoy it, it’s great. It is the artists that have made it difficult.

We need a once or twice a week post from you where you recommend new bands.
Sad. He was always pretty cool.
RIP Mel; pity he was predeceased by Country music.
Mel was my favorite old-timer. He was from Pahokee, FL, forty miles northwest of me.
Brad – I would a love to have a forum where I could post cool obscure music like Steve Jones, Little Steven, and Tom Petty have done. It’d be fun.

I think it would be a big hit here on Friday Nights. Maybe Sunday Nights? Let’s talk to management.
