The ‘No Cross Red Cross’

CFP: Welcome to the not-so-brave New World’s ‘No Cross Red Cross’:

“The Belgian branches of the international aid organisation received an email from the Provincial Committee of the Red Cross in Liège to remove all crucifixes.” (Breitbart, Dec. 4, 2017)

Why would an international organization riding on the name ‘Red Cross ‘remove all crucifixes from its Belgian branches?

André Rouffart, president of the Red Cross in Verviers, said: “We were asked to respect the principles of the Red Cross”, and not to distinguish between race or religious belief.”

In other words, the Red Cross kept afloat by public donations has capitulated to the dictates of the Politically Correct.  And that has nothing to do with “not distinguishing between race or religious belief”.

“Mr. Rouffart said there had been pushback from volunteers and other members on the issue but downplayed the issue, saying: “I think it’s a storm in a teacup.” (Breitbart)

If you really think “it’s a storm in a teacup”, then fight it, Mr. Rouffart, this cup, after all, only holds tea and not poison.

“Several volunteers spoke to Belgian broadcaster RTL and expressed hostility to the move, with one saying: “Let things remain as they are. We used to say ‘Christmas holidays’, now it’s ‘winter holidays’. The Christmas market in Brussels has become the ‘Winter Pleasures’.” (Brietbart)

“For a certain part of the population — because of the Muslims — the crosses were removed in the Red Cross houses and, more particularly, in that of Verviers,” the volunteer added.

“The order follows the proposed removal of a cross in France which was located above a statue of Saint John Paul II in Ploërmel, Brittany. The move sparked outrage among many and led to the Polish and Hungarian government offering to take the cross.

“Such measures must be regarded as attempts to do away with the continent’s civilisation and culture,” commented Hungarian foreign minister Péter Szijjártó.

  1. Get ready for the “Red Crystal”, which is for those who don’t like the cross or the crescent. It is a red diamond with a white center. No doubt that it will also be problematic eventually…probably will be vilified in Africa as a “Blood Diamond”,

  2. Well I went to the Goodwill Outlet other day (hey,Im frugal, okay) and there was some new American flags. I put them in my cart and went to check out and the cashier picked them up and said they cant sell American flags. Reason was people complained. I asked about an isis flag or mexican flag. She said they can sell those just not American flags! Do you believe that???!!!!! She tried calming me down by dayi g that people complained because the flags werent being treated right, like just dumped in a bin. Welllllll, thats fine but where oh where pray tell did I get them from? A bin, just thrown in a bin!!! Her excuse was BS!!!

  3. Hell no. How about the Red Cross continue to function on the premise it always has, and if it offends some, they don’t have to accept their aid.

The offended can just fend for themselves. M’kay?

    > islamists; why we can’t have nice things.

“Progressives: why we can’t have nice things.”

    TFIFY

(The order to destroy the crosses came from WITHIN the Red Cross.)

  5. @Farmwife.
That’s crap, isn’t it? Seems like whoever objected to Goodwill having the flags is objecting to their storage/display, not the sale itself. Maybe their solution should be to get donated flags to local VFW (or some org) to handle properly; keeping flags in the store without ability to sell or give away makes 0 sense.

  6. In the late 60’s early 70’s if a soldier had a bereavement leave the Red Cross handled all arrangements, on the most expensive flights. OK last minute booking and all that, but the soldier had to pay back the Red Cross. I don’t know how they do it now.

  7. I won’t bore you with the stories, but from my own experiences and those of people I trust, I can tell you that most of the negative stuff you hear about the Red Cross is true.

All my charity money goes to the Salvation Army. They’re the best.

  8. Anon 10:34,
I’m with you on this one.
If you require aid, but are SO offended by the Red Cross, just say so, and you will be left to fend for yourself, preferably to die in piece(s).
Oh, and a camera will be used to record your rejection response so there will be no future lawsuits from relatives.
