New Report: Was FBI Chief Legal Counsel James Baker Captured By New DOJ Leak Task Force?

Conservative Treehouse: Things are getting increasingly interesting and simultaneously obvious.  Thursday night the Washington Post reported that FBI Director Christopher Wray had relieved FBI Chief Legal Counsel, James Baker, of his responsibilities within the department.

Attorney James Baker accompanied FBI Asst. Director “Andy” McCabe to the Tuesday congressional hearing with the House Intelligence Community.  Curiously, in addition to other lines of inquiry, during the questioning McCabe was asked about whether James Baker was authorized to speak to the media about the Steele Dossier and the underlying ‘counterintelligence’ operation.  Asst. Director McCabe responded that Baker would not be authorized to take such action.

Following the HPSCI hearing, republican committee leadership announced their plan to subpoena James Baker for further questioning.  [Keep in mind Baker was there.]  Two days later, at the Thursday Judiciary and Oversight Committee hearings, James Baker did not accompany Andrew McCabe.   Hours later, James Baker is removed from his responsibilities as legal counsel within the FBI.  Cause: ‘unknown‘.

Back in July, 2017, it was reported that James Baker was under a criminal investigation for leaking classified information from within the FBI, although the details of the leak content were unknown.  Politico today reports that James Baker has been identified as the likely source that released information about the Fusion-GPS/Christopher Steele “Russian Conspiracy Dossier” to David Corn of Mother Jones in October of 2016:  MORE

  1. Well it’s all been pretty obvious for awhile now. And great to have a little spotlight on ’em for a bit at least. But what is still missing is, where are the criminal charges and convictions for any of these scofflaws? For all the treasonous, traitorous criminal behavior, all the way to the top of the Demo-rat party?

  2. The news of Baker’s reassignment came just days after congressional Republicans began asking questions about his contacts with media.

I don’t get the reassignment part! This guy and the other 2 (FBI/DOJ) who were “demoted” or “reassigned”. How about firing them, just like what would happen in private sector. Why should they continue to draw big salaries at taxpayer expense, not to mention big pensions. Reassignment/demotion is akin to being sent to the corner as a kid. Fire them all!

  3. Republicans want to change processes and procedures so this doesn’t happen again.

Well, indict, prosecute, deny their attorney’s license in all states and send the perpetrators to prison.
    That’s called a deterrent.

  4. “I don’t get the reassignment part!”

They’re worried if they fire him it will make all of them look guilty. And if they fire him, they have to explain why they fired him, they’ll all get called in for questioning, and maybe the other Federal Bullshit Investigating agents will get jumpy and start talking to save their own asses. The entire DC wing of the FBI is only as strong as their weakest sister.

However…No one on the left will care until they catch one of them touching little [whatever race is the rage at the moment] kids or touching a ‘sea of titties’ as the idiot cenk vulgar said.

  5. I think we need a flow chart if each ‘investigation’ and of the connections of each to others.

It is getting like a soap opera, but actually several soap operas, swirling amongst each other.

  6. MJA

I’ll bet he has some establishment Representatives and Senators who are his sponsors. Powerful people keeping him on the payroll. He should be indicted and prosecuted to the Max.
